If it wasn't for Guro Inosanto, I doubt I would have ever learned Tabok Toyok.
In certain circles, he is referred to as "The Godfather Of Nunchaku"  8-)

Hope nobody is upset that I posted In this but I just really like Guru Dan Inosanto. As a kid i HAD TO take a karate class it was basically rough kata's and i didnt like it one bit. I didnt like martial arts because in my mind it was all just kata's it wasnt untill i saw Ron Balicki demonstrating a arm wrentch on his Filipino Boxing Series that i was really hooked. I even wanted to train with him he has schools around the USA and one in florida now back then when i was ignorent of FMA and stuff i thought Kali was like most guys who are new to martial arts i thought it was just that art with the sticks (please nobody kill me) or that art with the knives and the swords but then i found out no Kali, escrima, arnis has alot of arts it has kicking arts, grappling arts, boxing arts, etc etc. then I found out about Ron Balickis Guru who not only was his Guru but was who had trained under the legend Bruce Lee. As i kept looking into the background of Dan Inosanto you just keep finding MORE AND MORE AND MORE stuff out

Dan Inosanto has a high list of accomplishments in his life his teachers and credentails include

1. A 3rd level instructor ship under the founder of Jeet Kune Do Bruce Lee
2. He's an expert in Filipino Martial arts under many of the best grandmasters in the world including Grand master Leo Gaje
3. He's an expert in silat studing under the entire De Thours family
4. A teacher of Savate
5. Teacher of Shooto under Yuri Nakamura
6. Muay Thai under Ajarn Surachai Chai Sirisute
7. Black Belt under Edmund Parker founder of American Kenpo
8. Most recently he's also gotten a black belt under the Machados in Brazilian Jiujitsu
7 Not only has he trained under the above arts but he's also studied many other arts including Tai Chi, but also Small Circle Jiujitsu under Wally Jay, as has also studied Bando and Krabi Krabong

Then there's his list of students which is also a who's who of amazing instructors in the world of martial arts people seek these instructors out when they want the very best trainers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

On this auspicious occasion the 20th day of August 2013 the 102nd birthday of our founder Grand Master Leovigildo Miguel Giron. We would like to formally announce the dedication of Leo Giron Drive. The following is the official press release from Grand Master Tony Somera.

"Thanks to the unceasing efforts of the Little Manila Foundation, the Filipino American National Historical Society, the Inosanto Academy and Bahala Na Filipino Martial Arts, in partnership with San Joaquin County we are finally able to announce the successful naming of "Leo Giron Drive"! This newly adopted street will appropriately lead to the future Veterans Hospital in French Camp, CA. As many people now know Leo Giron was a true WWII hero and Veteran of the famous 978th Filipino Commando unit that was hand picked by General Douglas Mac Arthur to spearhead the return of the allied troops into the Philippines. "Leo Giron Drive" is an honor to this great man, Leo Giron, who dedicated his life to the service of others, as well as Filipino Americans, Americans and most importantly it is an honor to our veterans whose sacrifices have given us all we have in our great country. We are so proud to see Leo Giron honored in this way and hope he will not be the last name adopted for a street name. But for now we applaud this event as a worthy testament to the great legacy of our forefather's gift to us. Congratulations to all the people who worked tirelessly to make this dream come true.

Sincerely,
Grand Master Tony Somera Bahala Na Martial Arts Association/Little Manila Foundation Board Member/FANHS Life Member/ Legenarios del Trabajo (LDT) Life Member In America.

After picking up my visa at the Brazilian consulate today, I went back Rigan's school (two blocks away) to see if he was there.  Instead Martin Wheeler was finishing up a Sistema class.  We greeted each other and as I got ready to go he said "Stick around."  Then Guro I. walked in and I got to watch his session with Martin.

The man is a tuning fork and I was in need of tuning today.

The Adventure continues!

PS:  Simo Paula called and told him about how Chris Weidman said in an article what he did to AS's leg was an destruction of Inosanto descent.  He was very jazzed to hear this and thought it very nice of CW to give credit.

I'm glad you were able to be "tuned."

That is very cool. I read an article that was crap about MMA being too violent, and that this fight was the beginning of the end of the mainstreaming of MMA. A piece of "evidence" was that move that broke AS's leg was called a "leg destruction."

Having learned a similar move at an Inosanto seminar, and then elsewhere from Inosanto students, I couldn't think what else it would be called.
