Title: FEEDBACK PLEASE
Post by: Crafty_Dog on January 25, 2004, 05:01:27 AM
A Hearty Woof to All:

I would like to take this moment to ask for feedback on this Forum-- likes, dislikes, that sort of thing.

In addition to general matters, of particular specific interest to me are:

1) What do people think of the current policy of allowing anonymous "guests" to post?  Should we require registering in order to post?

2) What do people think of our present approach to what may be posted and what may not?

TIA,
Crafty Dog

I am not familiar with half of the six million forums on the net. I do however get around to a few. I find this forum is a very nice mix of technical, hey how you doing and does anybody know?
Absent is alot of the pride, trashtalking and general weirdness of some of the forums.
I like how the New York guys use the site to post for their students the times and the lesson plans. Personally I would like to see more people doing this. Lesson plans are something I personally like to see. It can give new insight into linking different skillsets and theories together.
My two cents worth.

It would be nice to have posters use names, screen names, or whatever besides "guest."  Not only is it confusing, it rude to the others who do identify themselves.

Woof,
Russ

Overall, this forum is great.

My likes are the content and lack of trash talking.  The Dog Brother experience (Gathering, videos) has really charged my life with adventure, and the organization is to thank for that.  Thank you !

I would prefer that there are fewer posts overall rather than read political discussion or reposted articles of current events that are remotely related to the charter of this group.  On Yahoo groups, there are sections for group members to post pictures and videos.  It would be cool to have a place to host video clips, if even for a few weeks.

As for "guest" posts, I think this is fine.  An improvement may be a reminder that a posting is performed as guest.  I'm a registered member of this site, but I've unintentionally posted as "guest" in the past.

I like this board, and can't think of anything I would want changed...the 'Guest' posting might become confusing down the line if several people are using it in the same thread.."I'm the real Guest, all you other Guests are just..."

woof all, its my opinion that if your willing to take the time to make a post, then you should be accountable for what you post and at least be willing to stand behind your post. in other words register and post under some name, preferably one you can be identified with. why not?   sb

this is the most democratic forum on and about the FMA and FMA community.  so, please do not change anything.

as for the handful of rude and uninformed individuals that post, this is just part of having an open forum.  it is expected.

everyone from modern arnis to pekiti-tirsia to doce pares to schools unknown look to this forum for information.  and we thank you for this.

1.  I would have to concur with others on this thread that the whole "Guest" posting thing is at once annoying, confusing, and rude.  Everyone should have an identifiable username.

2.  There doesn't seem to be too many limitations on posting--I've never had a problem in that regard.

In terms of other website/forum features, I'd say it would be nice if we could use avatars that could simply be uploaded into the site's database, instead of linked from another site.

Just my 2 cents...

Peace,
