Title: Stickfighting in Hong Kong
Post by: marcus_hk on April 29, 2005, 11:11:10 PM
Hi,

Im desperatly looking for some more people doing sticks in Hong Kong and are interested in sparring. We are a few ppl working out on the weekends, all with different ma-backgrounds. In terms of stickfighting, most of us have more or less of a background in Balintawak. The rules are anything goes but we limit grappling to strong position/submission or standing up after 10 sec of no action. We all do it becuase we enjoy it, nothing is written in stone, but we dont spar by WEKAF-rules... We got equipment and usually workout outdoors.

There will also be an informal seminar in HK early July. We bring over John Russel from Australia (visayanmartialarts.com), who was kind enough to promise to come over with 2 of his best students after one of their trips to Cebu if we pay his beers. Im not trying to advertise it here, cause there is no charge for the training, its all up to the individual what to pay, but id be suprised if he can manage more than 20-30 USD of beer a day.

No disrespect intended by posting this, just wanted to find more ppl in HK.

You dogbrothers have been a great inspiration for getting this going.

thanks
