It looks like I won't be making this gathering after all. I recently had a wisdom tooth extraction and have since developed a case of dry socket   They had to remove some of the jaw bone in order to dislodge tooth.  Probably best I sit this one out.  Looking forward to September Gathering?  Dog Tom

Hey Crafty!  One day "closed tribal"  and one day "open gathering" sounds like an interesting idea    Just wondering, what is the final status of this Gathering? My daughter and I were planning to come watch on Sunday. I'm kinda knocking around the idea of dusting off the old Chuks and going a couple of stand up rounds on Saturday.  Dunno   Should be a good one!    DogTom

    The classes at the Dux dojo were fun. They also included firearms training. I really liked the shot gun classes   I remember one story he told me about, sleeping up in the trees when bedding down for the night on the battlefield. This was a practice, he said, was used to avoid surprise ambush or from being run over by tanks while sleeping. He also claimed, he was given the nickname "Monkey" because of said practice.  

The other national Geo Fight Club?  It is titled "Fight Club Asia"  At fist glance, I thought it was a continuation of a series born from "Fight Club No Limits"  It is not made by the same production company (O.P.) and appears to have no connection with the no limits documentary.  Has anyone seen F/C Asia?                                                   http://natgeotv.com/asia/fightclub/about

BTW, I don't don't take offence to people replying negatively to my above post.  I was Dux's student durrind the early 80's.  I must admit,  some of his claims just don't ad up when you do the math.  It would have to have been a 100 man fight challenge(Oyama) to even come close to some of the records he claims to have set. Problem with that is,  the 100 man + fight challenge was a test, not a tournament, so we can rule that out. 

Dux describes himself as being a third generation descendant of covert operatives. "From 1981 to 1987, I served as a covert operative for CIA director Bill Casey," Dux told Martial Arts Magazine  quote:  His alleged contact in the CIA, director William Casey, passed away from a brain tumor in 1987, almost ten years before Dux's book was published. William Casey was not around to either confirm or denounce Dux's statements, or the existence of their relationship. However, other individuals have stepped forward to help lend credence to Dux's role as an operative.

Congressional expert witness, Iran-Contra insider, US Navy Lt. Cmdr. Alexander Martin stated in court proceedings under penalty of perjury, "During my intelligence career, I have met with and been introduced to many covert operatives, whose existence has often been officially denied by the government agencies that these parties have been associated with. One of these covert operatives was one Frank Dux." Lt. Cmdr. Martin's declaration was entered into evidence as Exhibit #25 in Dux's suit of libel and slander against Soldier of Fortune magazine. 

Q:  Some high ranking officials of military and law enforcement in the U.S., Russia and others have made claims as Cmdr. Martin did about Dux.  Who in their wright mind would make  such a claim like that under oath if it were not true.  Isn't this stuff public record?  The list of frauds in the martial art community are to long to mention. Some have been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt while others remain open to speculation.  I guess we will never know until there is solid proof or these people come clean and admit the truth as some already have.      When you get right down to it,  you can't believe anything you read on the internet...

I found this clip of  2008 Dog brothers documentary on youtube of ITV in the U.K.  Footage taken from same day as the "Fight Club no Limits" footage.  I was told it was the same show with a different title.  From what I can see, it is a completely different show culled from the same raw footage!  This didn't air in the U.S. as far as I know.  Can anybody expand on this?

The 2005 pilot has some good stuff on it.  Seems like a good show could be edited from that footage. As far as the shows that never manifested, they to may some day find new life as did the 2005 pilot.   It's all good!

On a more serious note, I felt compelled to post this Vietnam war documentary.  I felt that it gave me a deeper understanding of what a soldier goes through in times of war and the lingering affects it can have on the human physique.  
Members of my family and some of my best friends are war veterans spanning from WW2 to Afghanistan.  I often wondered why they held so much of that experience inside and were reluctant to tell their story.  
When I was 18, I registered for the draft.  As the years went by, I always had a sense of being blessed for not having to fight in a war. Now at 49 years of age, the chances are slim that I will ever have to experience such a horrible thing. I also think it is shamefull how many of our countries vets are being treated by our government and society.  I would incourage young people who may have a glorified view of war, to view this film.  I have much respect for the men and women who give so much of themselves in the name of freedom and country. Even if the government were to be misguided, our soldiers should always receive the highest praise and never be disrespected. (Part 6 + 7 are especially insightful)

A Gathering Of The Pack

In 1993, our first series, commonly known as "The Dog Brothers Videos", introduced "Dog Brothers Real Contact Stickfighting". Since that time, the fighting has evolved A LOT. Twice a year, we host our "Dog Brothers Gathering of the Pack" and this video, consisting of selected fights from 1994-1999, shows just how much the fighting has evolved since the fights of the late 1980s and early 1990s that formed the basis of the first series.

The video opens with the opening talk, which sets the understandings for the day, and promptly turns to two 1 on 1 knife fights, and one 2 on 2 knife fight. There are many single and double stick fights, single stick versus double nunchaku, stick versus hardwood bokken (ends in broken hand) and two 4 foot staff fights (one of them ends in a ruptured ear drum). The video closes with the fighters' circle as the fighters share the day.

This is not a "Greatest Hits of the Dog Brothers" video (that comes later). Although some of the fights in this video may well appear in the "Greatest Hits" video, with this video the idea is to show just what a Gathering is and to show the current fighting. And at a length of 70 minutes in this video there is plenty of that!

Eric (topdog) Knaus, commenting on each fight in detail (according to review). Is this an improved version of the standard Gathering of the pack dvd or is it a completely different video?

They probably cut the nunckaku parts out of the show. They are banned in the UK and they are not allowed to show them on TV or movies! The video game, Soul Blade, was edited for use in the UK because one of the characters used a nunchaku. The characters weapon was replaced with a three sectional staff. lol

That is what a friend of mine was saying last night. She figured it's the same show with a slight title change. Yep!
