I had the pleasure of attending a 2 day seminar that Pendekar Benitez gave here in Ireland a few years ago. Excellent martial artist and top bloke to boot. One word of advise if you're attending, get ready to make friends with the floor, you're gonna see a lot of it :-D
All the best,
John

Hi everybody.
1° post here.
I know a guy who spoke pretty well about Steven Benitez.
I just saw videos on their site (www.reelcombat.com) and something else on Youtube.
Benitez moves really good. Sharp and neat.
I don't know what kind of Pukulan he plays.
Not Serak (I think...) or Pecutan.

Anyway... really nice Silat.  :-)

P.S.
Sorry for my english

Hi,

I first heard about Steve Benitez about 8 years ago - it took me about another 2 years to track him down!

Absolutely awesome! Very fast and strong (he is only a little guy), he moves really well from the ground to standing.

Hi silat is very Sumatran - strong harimau influence, but a little different from the Mande Muda harimau stuff. It is more like the Harimau as taught by Richard de Bordes.
He also teaches Cimande.

I was most impressed once by his methods of dealing with multiple opponents - forget all the keeping them in a line so you only have to fight one at a time stuff; he moves fast between attackers.  :-o

Well worth checking out if you have any interest in silat.

Just for informational purposes: Guru Inosanto closed his mixed Silat camp last year with footage of Pendekar Benitez.  All I have to say is wow!  Pendekar Beneitez has amazing movement on the ground and blinding speed.  John and Suzanne Spezzano, who are instructors over at the Inosanto Academy, fly out to train with Pendekar Benitez several times a year, and they have nothing but respect for him.  I have a previous commitment but if you are local, you should do everything you can to attend the seminar.

I know that 2 of the UK DBMA group leaders (Colin & Lynne) have done a bit of training with Steve & his student Alvin.

They only have good things to say  :-)

Hi,

A couple of weeks ao I trained at a seminar with Steve's #2 Alvin.
Really good.
Very Sumatran - (what most people in the west would describe as harimau)
Despite 8 years of training in harimau (though not for the last year or so) it took me a couple of days before I could walk properly again!!
