DBMA in Manhattan, LG Dog Russ? Patio
In Attendance: Agapito Gonzalez, Amal J., Brandon Carter, Jason D?Agnenica, LG Dog Russ
Tonight was an investigative class as to the roots of some of the systems we train. I asked Guro Agapito to show a Pekiti Tirsia Seguida and some of its variations.
Agapito began by teaching the basic PTK four count that we learn in Inosanto Blend Kali. He emphasized that this is a structure from which variations and creative interpretation can follow.
Figure Eight or infinity symbol (∞)-
We trained this in flow at first, starting and ending on the backhand shoulder. Then we trained it as four distinct movements out of that flow:
1) backhand jab
2) palm up downward slice
3) palm up upward slice
4) backhand jab
Variation two:
1) backhand jab
2) palm up downward slice
3) palm up upward slice
4) forehand broken strike/ tear (this can also be a slash across)
We used these two against a metrinome angle 1.
Variation three:
1) arcing backhand downward slash (beginning palm down and then switching to palm up)
2) slash back up along the same line
3) return backhand jab or forehand broken strike/ tear
Use against a metrinome angle 2.
Variation four:
1) backhand fan out w/ empty hand support (protective forearm block if needed)
2) lift for small circle redondo (very tight)
3) backhand jab
Use against a metrinome angle 2.
