Kalis Ilustrisimo, the Filipino weapon art developed by Antonio
"Tatang" Ilustrisimo, is now being taught in the Los Angleles area.
Classes are lead by Marc Scott, certified instructor under Raymond
Floro (a direct Students of Ilustrisimo himself).

These classes are all blade based, based on the idea that one is more
likely to encouter, or carry an edged weapon versus a sword or stick.
That being so all knife skills can easily be transferred to a variety
of weapons, including impact and larger edged weapons.

Kalis Ilustrisimo has been characterized as "... very deadly, direct
and immediate. Unique in the simple, direct and cunning way it is
done, it is one of the very few styles that is still based on the
blade. Its movements are compact and accurate, characterised by
typically small, simple and direct movements without any gaps between
attack and defence."

Kalis Ilustrisimo is widely regarded as one of the most effective
blade systems in the world today.

Stressing simplicity and compact combat, the techniques taught can be
applied as easily in doorway, as in an open room.

Technique is never taught in isolation and students learn to spar what
they are taught almost immediately.

If you want to learn complicated stick patterns, and two man drills
this is not the training for you, if you do want to learn a highly
effective knife system with an increadibly fast learning curve this is
the system for you.

Mr. Scott,

How long have you been training in Kalis Ilustrisimo? I am curious about this system and would love to check it out. Have you been in LA for awhile? Thanks.

Please, no need to call me Mr. Scott.

I have been training weapons and FMA off and on since 1990, but is has only been recently that I was authorized to teach K.I.

I would say that all my years of training became part of my own Kalis Ilustrisimo experience. For me that is the beauty of the system, people quickly learn how to take skills they already have and streamline them according the K.I. principles.

It's like our footwork, want to walk forward...okay walk forward, want to walk back, okay walk backwards, we don't stick to any prescribed footwork, we just walk.

I have been in L.A. for just shy of three years.

As well as my Kalis certification I am authorized to teach muay Thai(Kietbusaba), I competed professionally in Thailand, sport and combat Sambo, as well as other styles, all of which actually lend themselves quite well to our K.I. training.

If you have anymore questions please post, or you can always email me at marcdscott@yahoo.com
