The MAGIC WORDS: "No judges, no referees, no trophies. One rule only: Be friends at the end of the day! This means our goal is that no one spends the night in the hospital. Our goal is that everyone leaves with the IQ with which they came. No suing no one for no reason for nothing no how no way! Real Contact Stickfighting is Dangerous and only you are responsible for you, so protect yourself at all times. All copyright belongs to Dog Brothers Inc. CA law applies."

This matter of accepting all risks applies to those of you observing as well!

For example, sticks and fighters may go flying into the crowd. Parents should consider things like this in deciding whether a child is old enough to bring along and/or deciding on from where to observe the event. If a stick or a fight comes careening your way know that the fight has right of way, it is on you to get out of the way! If you are sitting in or near the front row, we will not make fun of you if you wear protective headgear!

As always, NO VIDEO CAMERAS and NO DUAL PURPOSE CAMERAS WILL BE ALLOWED.

Hi Matt

There are 2 hotels in Stettlen:
http://www.linde-stettlen.ch/  &  http://www.ziegelhuesi.ch/
If you looking for a cheaper possibility, here some ideas in Bern. (there is a Train conection between Bern – Stettlen, about 15 min.)

Woof All:

Lonely Dog tells me that already there are 50 fighters with over a week to go.  Even allowing for the usual 20% rate last minute mini-epidemic of vaginitis, this is going to be a big Gathering.

I leave next Wednesday for Bern.

The Adventure continues!

From Lonely Dog:

A friendly bark,
Mit freundschaftlichem Bellen,
Avec amical aboyer,
Con amichevole abbaiare,
Con amistoso ladrar,

Dear Fighter for the „Tribal Gathering“

This e-mail is to give you some information’s about how the Friday will be scheduled…

We will meet at the parking place next to the training hall “Bleichestrasse” (see map) on 2 pm. Please try to be in time… the plan is to leave Stettlen by car (at the latest of 3 pm). If you are to late I’m sorry but we can’t wait for you…

Fighting will be outdoor! We are in Switzerland and it’s end of September, means there is a chance that it will rain… and it will be quite chilly for sure. Bring enough clothing, and suitable footwear (think about fighting in the rain…).

After the fighting we will have the dinner and probably live music at the same location. Fortunately inside a nice old farmhouse...

Looking forward to see you soon

Arrived in Bern after a red-eye flight from hell.

Fights will be in sheep meadow with some uneven terrain issues

Woof All:

Yesterday was the Tribal Day.

I had many of the fights start on the rather steep hillside.  Very exciting to begin to rediscover some of the wisdom of the Art in this regard! (see e.g. the teachings/writings of GM Leo Giron IIRC in "Memories ride the ebb of tide" wherein he discusses this very point).

Sometimes I had the fighters start at the same height on the hillside, and sometimes I had one above the other.  A real highlight reel moment came in the latter context when the higher fighter did a flying cannonball (at 230 pounds, thats a lot of cannonball :-o ) on the lower man and the fight went rolling down the hill!

There was a very good double stick vs oak bokken fight, a very good staff fight, a couple of fights stopped by hand hits, a double stick fight where Dos Triques was seen to very good effect (see the DT thread for a somewhat fuller discussion) and many, many good fights with wonderful Dog Brother spirit shown by all.

Afterwords we retired to the farmhouse and had a wonderful cajun style dinner and copious amounts of brew were quaffed.  There was a grand piano, so I got to noodle around for a while and the evening finished with a quasi-metal band.

I made a mistake in the date (2009 instead of 2008  ).

Here is the correct link : http://www.montbonnot-bando.com/index.php/galeries/71-dog-brothers-gathering-of-the-pack-092008

Best regards,

wuff, wuff everybody

this are important news considering the euro gathering 2009!

unfortunately i had to change the date, because it was not possible to hold the event at the planned date.
the gathering will take place at a very nice location just next to our river. the great thing is also that just 5 min walking distance there is a camping place. what gives the fighter a cheap accomodation possibility.

unfortunately at the planned date there is also a big open air music event and the whole camping is booked.

so i saw me forced to move the event one week afterwards. the new date is:

- tribal gathering 24. july 2009
- open gathering 25. july 2009
- seminar with guro "crafty dog" 26. july 2009

i hope the new date will work for you as well!
