Hello All,
I write from my desk here at the University, shifting positions every few seconds to alleviate the dull, yet oddly comforting pains coming from various parts of my body. It is the day after the Gathering, and life is good.
I suppose I should begin with thanks to the entire Dog Brothers organization for putting on yet another great event. Once again, martial arts enthusiasts from all backgrounds and abilities were put in a big room without signs of ego or politics, to fight, learn, and make new friends. The vibe was great, and the fights exciting.
This was the first time I'd jumped in on the action and it was a truly enlightening, learning experience. My thanks to "Junkyard Dog" for making me laugh before the fights and telling me I'd be alright, my friend "Friendly Neighborhood" Steve Feng for talking me into a knife fight, "Dog Carlos" for keeping me honest and hitting me hard enough to remind me where I was, "Dog Bryan" for making me re-think my stick grappling defense, and Jeff Frater for reminding me that armbars can be fun (unless you are the one having it applied)
I had a great time, my wife had a great time, and I look forward to the next go-around.
Thanks again,
Miguel

You guys fought awesome. There were so many high quality fighters there yesterday! It was quite intimidating and inspiring!
The Dog Brothers and their fellow fighters are as strong as ever. The tribe continues to grow!
Woof to all the fighters yesterday,
Russ

thanks to the dbma for another great event. my only regret is not getting to fight more often and to see my brothers and cousins on the mat.
i saw the orthopedic specialist today. i have what's referred to as a tuft fracture on the tip of my R ring finger and a nail avulsion. going in next week to get the stitches out and reassess. for now, i'm putting off corrective surgery and giving it a chance to heal up a bit before i decide to cut it open/off.
hope all of my fellow fighters are healing well. good on u for fighting, migs. i enjoyed our knife fight thoroughly. nice to meet you, russ. glad to hear you had a good trip home.
best wishes to all for a safe and fattening thanksgiving.
(howl of contentment)
