“wuff” everybody,

I’m planing on posting a series of specific stick fighting workout clips. Each video will focus on another solo training topic.

In my assessment solo training is an important part of our training. Of course training with a partner is still the most relevant one. But some time we just don’t have a partner to train with, and otherwise has solo training also a lot to offer...

I hope that some of these workouts will give you some new ideas for your training.

I will put every 1 or 2 weeks a new video up on my you tube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/LonelysDen/videos

here the first clip...

title:
Lonely Dog's Workout 001 – Hitting the Tire

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nx4CDgnEhkI&feature=youtu.be

description:
hitting the tire is for the stick fighter as important as it is for a boxer to hit his heavy bag. hitting the tire is good for power and endurance, but it can offer you even more...
with this video i would like to share with you a strategic approach to work on the tire.

here the second clip...

Lonely Dog's Workout 002 – Power training in the River

Description:
This workout is inspired through the one and only  “Surf Dog”. Hitting water is good training and can improve your power. But first and foremost it's a lot of fun, and should therefore not taken to seriously...
I have to admit that we are not doing this too often, the water in Switzerland is just too cold most at the time.  wink

I thought it was warm!  grin  But then I'm Scottish and get overheated when the temperature hits double digits  cheesy

Lonely Dog's Workout 004 – Agility Ladder

Description:
In the way I approach weapon fighting, footwork is the key skill to develop.
Agility ladder training is a good way to quicken your footwork progression.
It will boost your foot speed, your agility, but also your coordination and smoothness.

Great vids, Lonely Dog.
Can you post how you constructed the tire apparatus that was hanging from the ceiling at 00:15 of the Workout 001 video, and the tire on wall throughout the rest of the video?  I'd like to get one built for our gym.

Thanks,
Jeff

Nice!! this could really help me stay interested in treadmill training.  many creative options there that I'd not thought of.  You could jog on the treadmill and do similar work with doble daga or espada y daga.  very cool.

Unfortunately though most modern treadmills have those sidebars, which would interfere with the stick.  Also you'd end up hitting the control panel at the front and you don't have the space to zig-zag and change gait (you can tell I work in gyms Wink ).

Lonely,

Try backwards skipping then sprint forward.  We do this with a whistle as the cue to sprint.  This adds an element of reaction time.  Thanks again for being so generous.

Lonely Dog's Workout 010 – Shrimping

this workout is all about to be mobile while being on your back.
as for the boxer it is crucial to have good head movement, so it is crucial to have good hip movement when fighting from the bottom.

lateral hip movements as shrimping are essential when fighting from your back. those moves are important to escape from dominant positions, and to create space for effective counter attacks.
