well, that was my first Gathering and i had a blast. thanks to all for doing what you do.

i was the guy with the crewcut that got the nasty bleeder on the side of my head. probably could have done w/ a stitch or two, but i'm just going to make do with liquid bandage until i get home to NY.

might try planning on Nov., and bringing other fighters.

take care,

Porn Star Dog!

How goes it in Bangladesh?  Of course there will be a report but first I will want to review the video so of course it will take me a number of days to get to it.

Looking forward to everyone's comments here.

Hey Y'all,

That's a million for another tremendous Gathering. A tip of the hat to everyone involved for putting together a truly thouroughly enjoyable day. As always the vibe was positive, the fighters talented, and the sticks fast (for some reason they seem to have gottten harder since the last time I did this   )

Thanks to Shannon Mackensie for keeping me honest with the knife (I'm still feeling the sidekick), Kris Dunnage for ringing my bell several times (I'm definitively convinced that the helmets are just for show), and Rob Gage for reminding me what a nice forearm shot feels like (and in the process taking the fight out of me 'til next time).

I look forward to seeing you all next time around! Thanks again...

Peace,

Miguel

Well, there's a reason we call them "masks" and not "helments"

Are you talking about the sidekick in the 2x2 knife fight that knocked over both men in the team fighting back to back?  If so, I thought that was Alan B who threw it ?

The sidekick was in one of the single man knife fights. I'm suprised I don't have a nice footprint on my stomach.

Again, I had a most excellent time!

Thanks to Marc And Cindy Denny, Eric Knaus, James Stacey, the RAW gym and everyone else involved in this event.

I thoroughly enjoyed smacking sticks with everyone, and this is a one-of-a-kind venue .  Much better than sitting on the sofa, watching a sit-com and eating a bag of Doritos.   I'm glad Marc has continued this event and set it up as a test of individual abilities in an ultimately competitive yet non-tournament format.  There is little that is more satisying than pushing a dude down (or being pushed down), scarring him up, then getting up to shake hands.    During a time period where we spare the rod in favor of drugging the child, I'm glad we can still remember our warrior nature.  Though, those of you that left their mark on me (face and hand bruises) will delight in hearing that my coworkers think I'm weird.

Thanks for an awesome game,

Miguel, you're most welcome. somewhere in that fight you got the heel of my off hand, so now i have a hand that is half pale and half purple. twice you had me "going down the dark tunnel" with the chokes. only way i saved myself was flagrant disregard for my lower jaw and the fact that we were both really sweaty/slippery.

and thanks to D.A. for showing me the error of style without power....ow...ow....ow....

Dear Martial Artists and friends,

I would just like to thank Guru Mr. Marc and Cindy Denny, the Great Eric Knauss, DB tribe and all who attended and participated at the gathering to allow me to participate in such an exciting event.  This is a great experience for any serious martial artist to take their level of training to this level.  I had the opportunity to match up against Mr. Shannon Mckensie and Mr. Dale "Island Dog" Frank.  Their skills are awesome and I truly enjoyed those moments of exchanges with them.  Those moments in time really made me grow and improve my self development as a martial artist and as a human as well.  I will be looking forward in participating in future gatherings.  Have a great day!

My thanks to the DBMA allstar team, they are the people that come together to make every DBMA event possilbe.  My special thanks to all of the competitors ( if those that fought can be called that, I prefer the all inclusive "TRIBE") who came out to fight.  I also want to thank everyone that came to support their warriors because they get to see what makes us spend holidays, birthdays, anniversaries (whether they remembered or not), weekends, weekdays, and countless hours forging our bodies/mind/spirit to perfect our arts.  I never saw a single fighter that lacked heart, I never saw anyone too afraid to step out on to the mat, and I've yet to see anyone leave a gathering in poor spirits.  Though our numbers were fewer than usual, I see only room for our tribe to grow.  The faces of this gathering should be the faces of many gatherings to come, and it is up to us to communicate with one another and prepare each other for November or any unforseen scenario (flight 93 scenario included) in the future.  We must walk as warriors for all of our days, as a tribe.

it sounda like i missed a great time.
i'm currently practicing secret shaolin training methods and will hopefully be back soon.

bangladesh is both an incredibly intense and somewhat depressing place. i really can't articulate about the experience right now.

Woof All:

I share this post by Pappy Dog from the DBMA Association (DBMAA) forum:

Crafty Dog
===========================

Hola Everyone,

It was the Saturday class after the Gathering. I had taken 3 new guys for their first Gathering fights; a loose band of artist, miscreants, and city workers. You never know how they will react to such an adrenaline dowsed event. Well.... Success. They took to it like a model to an abusive relationship. They kept going back for more. I make no boasts about their skills (although I think they did well). But, they had the lust for fights. So much so I started to feel a little lame for only fighting 2 fights. As I watched one of my guys flying backwards being suplexed: I almost covered my eyes. Like a parent watching his kid climb a tree to the top. I was relieved to see him without hesitation, spin into his oponents guard and begin to throw headbutts. Wow, one grappling lesson paid off. Although, that fire is within each person before even they take a martial arts class. You can't help but feel responsible or proud for their success.

Back to class- The class after the Gathering is usually reserved for boasting, showing scars, and training the more esoterics parts of the art. However, what did these guys want to do? Spar!

Easy Fellas

Just want to say that I had a great time at the Gathering. It was cool to see all the people i met last year and meet new nutters this year.

Speacial thanks to the big guy Miguel, you hit me so hard on the temple man, i swear i nearly screamed. I tied to explain to some people back home how i got the resulting black eye, they could not grasp the concept. Which pretty much explains what kind of people we are that do this kind of thing. Warrior Cast.

Also thanks to Gints for the knee strikes to the gut, just glad I have a little more protection around that area than most

Was really chuffed to be made a "Dog", it took a few days for t to sink in because my head was in another place, thanks again Gints and Miguel.

Hoping to make it out again in November, but more likely to be next June.Until then fellas, Fight Feed and Breed
