Well I just can't wait............ :-D
From a Europeans perspective the earliest we can set a date the better!
Woof
-
Just back from Switzerland and have a busy day or three ahead of me. I WILL look into pinning this down. I want to see if I can get the corral in Temecula again 8-)
-
Is the plan to replicate the anniversary gathering we had last year on an annual basis? Three days, DB Corral, etc?
-
The 3 day Gg was a one-of thing. From here forward we anticipate 2 days-- at the Temecula Corral if we can.

OUTSTANDING! I am really looking forward to this one and stress testing my new and improved knee.
I'll be there with med bag in hand. If its in the cards, I would like to take a brief time slot to share what I keep in my kit, do's, don't's, & and some how too's... I really enjoyed the level of interest in this area as it applies to the 3H's of DB's credo.
As Guro Crafty would say about now, "TAC's"

If I'm recovered from knee surgery I'd love to make it out. Last years April Gathering had a tremendous amount of heart and skill. I don't want to fill out a dance card without a guarantee of being there, but if I make it, I'd love to have a good fight with Red Dog and Frankfurter :-D

So, I must have missed something... :? Im sure you read tha,t I too am recovering from knee surgery. Got a match set of screws in both knees now. Gotta love the damp weather. I would be honored to test my skills against you at the gathering, with respect to our common handicaps.
I hope to see you at the Gathering and share some Tribal love in the Spirit of progression and truth.
I'll be bringing my cane and Im looking to try my hand at fighting with that as my tool of choice (that is visible - who knows what other things maybe or maynot be brought into play) TAC
Hope to see you there Brother.
C-KD
Here's a pick of my cane from Mark Shuey (Cane Masters) w/ Crafty's blessing, I look forward to using it in a match or two. Mahalo in advance.

PS.
Crafty / Kitty,
Will there be a "Fight Registration" for this April's Private Gathering of the Pack and have we confirmed the DB Coral for the set?
-
I'd love to have a good fight with Red Dog and Frankfurter
Hey Brian, me too! How about a double stick? :-D
-
The corral is no longer owned by the same person. I'm playing phone tage with my brother to clarify the situation, and have asked if we can use the dirt area between his house and the orange grove as a Plan B.
-
For those attending the April 09 Gathering, I am looking forward to giving a brief instruction on "Emergency Cricothyroidotomy".
I will also be bringing some CAT touriquets to give to those in attendance (I will give a quick refresher on application of these also)
With the blessing of our guiding force, Crafty.

Any updates on this :?
8-)

It would be cool to set a date soon as well regardless of location so we can start making travel arrangements? Worst case scenario couldn't we just use the park again like the first day of the gathering last April?
-
any one suggest hotels in the area please
-
The date is April 4-5.
I have tentative approval from my brother for use of his place, but he needs to confirm it with his partner in the property.
Acu Canyon does not work on Sat-Sun because there is a soccer league that uses the field on those days.
-
:-D
-
My brother's place is confirmed.
Woof All:
A word of explanation here for those who missed the discussion in a different thread. The way we do it now, the April Gathering is for DB Tribe only and the Sept Gathering is the Open Gathering.

Hey Crafty, Glad to hear you have a location confirmed. When you get a chance, could you PM or E- mail me your brothers address? It does not have to be to detailed as I have a GPS unit. Thank you in advance. See you soon! Dog Tom

Done. Thanks for the Zip code.

Thanks for the heads up.

How can I get in on this?

I was under the impression that you were already in. Did you check your PM? Send resume? Like Crafty always says, "90% of life is showing up"
Get in contact with Crafty ASAP. I was counting on seeing you there bro. Good luck 8-) Dog Tom

If any of you guys need some equipment for the Gathering please let me know. Not sure I can make it both days, working it out. I will have to have someone bring the equipment if I am not there. I am currently out of the country and the Gathering is rapidly approaching.
Looking forward to it. How is everyone feeling?

Hey Pappydog, I,m glad to hear you might be at the up comming April gathering. I hope all is well with you and hope to see you in April. Good luck to you. Dog Tom

Oh, you know. Just another weekend in the corral.
More character development via being beaten with sticks by much taller men (which is pretty much everyone for me).
More post-fight interviews with horse sh&% in your teeth.
Basically, I wouldn't miss it for the world. :-D

Guide Dog,
I've made the executive decision and decided that we are not going to fight this time. Why you ask? You've turned out to be one of the nicest people I've ever met and instead of fighting I just want to give you big uncomfortably long hugs through out the weekend. Be ready because they're coming out of left field and I won't let go until I feel I've received the love. I hope you're okay with this! :-D

I'm not certain what my wife will say, Ryan, but knock yourself out. :-D
I've also enjoyed getting to know you over the years. You are a very talented fighter, teacher, martial scholar, and entrepreneur. I look forward to seeing you and the other familiar faces in a few weeks.
Bryan
P.S. I have also enjoyed getting to know your dad. I have to hand it to him. He gets out there and does it.

This just in:
Woof Crafty,
I will be unable to attend the Gathering for April 2009. I will be going to have eye surgery tommorrow to repair a stitch on the scleral buckle in my left eye.

From the newly christened "Scotty Dog" (many thanks to Guro C for letting me use your Laptop)
If you've been on the forum for more than the last 12 months, you may be aware of my post this time last year, lamenting the fact that my head wasn't hard enough to allow me to fight for more than one day (again, thanks for all who looked after me). This weekend was a big deal for me as not only did I get to see if I had the bottle to get up for a second day's fighting (it was hard) but I finally got to fight in Temecula (and tast the dirt, but thankfully not the horse poo)
Thanks to all I fought, apologies to those I didn't and thanks for the good times & beers.
Remember Margaritas are EVIL!!!!!
Scotty
PS Ryan, remember you owe me a fight
====================================
From the new C-Sleazy Dog Dominic. (Thx to Lonely for the name which could not be more precise in describing my personality... bastard! :-)
Thank you all for showing me such a great time and some of the toughest fights i ever had.
Hope to see many of you at the european gathering next summer! (Switzerland is a nice place in July! Specialy from the 24th to the 26th!)
Dominic
-
Higgy! Congratulations brawh! :-D First full DB in the UK (and a Scotsman to boot!)
Dom, never has a DB name been more accurate ;) Congratulations bro!
Who else was Dogged?
-
Woof Scotty and C-Sleazy Dogs
Congratulatiions :-D. Actually I will admit I had quite a bit of input into the Sleazy name but hey, You deserved it!
Scotty, Luckily you already had your dog name or you would have been 'Barf Dog'!
-
The propper care and feeding of a Scotsman, does not include things like Margaritas. I'm sure, whiskey and beer would have been the better choice! IMO

During a pre/post (can't remember) fight this weekend with Pappy, I was commenting that so many of the people who come to my training group meetings start out by saying something like, "It's one of my major dreams in life to fight at a Gathering."
I usually respond by telling them the date of the next Gathering, and saying something like, "Well that's an easy one. Come train with me, and I'll do my best to get you ready. Make sure to show up on the day, and I can connect you with people that I think might be a good fit for you, or if you feel more comfortable, you can have your first fight with me, and move on from there. Then that's one major life goal to put a line through."
I will put this out there again, on the public board: If you have ever thought, even in the back of your mind, "You know, maybe I could fight in a Gathering one day", you should attend in September, and FIGHT!
The time is NOW.
I'm Guide Dog, so if it helps, follow this idea, this path, or do the opposite. Either way, I'm living up to my nickname:
I'm 30 years old. I'm a full Dog Brother. I DID not play football in high school. I'm short. I DO NOT walk around in this life dwelling on how "tough" I am, or "what a bad a$$" I am. When I was 11, I remember seeing an old Panther Video advertisement for the RCSF series, and thinking, "Those guys are crazy." A long story, and several versions of myself later, at 27 I fought in my first Gathering. Just about a year ago, I was "sworn in" as a full DB amongst a group of men that at the time, seemed to be in agreement that I deserved it.
I just got back from a weekend of fighting, and 10 fights later, my body feels more chewed up than it ever has from a Gathering. Some of my fights were good. The fight where Cyborg Dog entered on me (at will), threw me like a rag doll, and choked me out within a period of 30 seconds, not so good. Oh well. Cyborg's a very strong, very talented guy. Maybe my purpose in that moment was to just be there, to provide a dummy for Cyborg, and to learn from the experience.
Anyway, I could go on and on. The Gatherings are amazing. They are happening right now. September will be here before you know it. I'm not calling anyone out. I'm encouraging you. The Tribal Gatherings are even MORE special, because you get the chance to hit and get hit by some VERY talented folks, most of whom will be willing to tell you after the fight exactly how they did what they did to you.I can almost feel those of you out there that are just one step away from giving it a go. If you have the means, don't wait. Don't put it off.
Sorry to have turned this into a recruiting spiel. This weekend was amazing. Congrats to ALL the WELL-DESERVED tribe ascensions. Thanks to all who had to make a trip, whether from the east, or Canada, or Europe, or Tahiti. Our brotherhood and tribe is truly strong ALL across the world.
I will post more details on the member's forum (little plug there for joining the association).
Guro Crafty, I thank you again for the weekend, and I hope that days like Saturday and Sunday validate your decision to quit law. :-D
Sincerely,
Bryan "Guide Dog" Stoops

Good fights this weekend. Congrats to all who ascended!
I remember myself standing in front of a television ten years ago watching DB fights on video, literally shaking. I thought "I would love to be like those guys one day." I admired them and feared them at the same time. I resigned to the fact that it would never be. Yet as life would have it I pushed my way through obstacles of distance, time, blood, sweat and tears. I finally did realize the culmination of that transformation this weekend when given my full dog name. As Crafty and Lonely touched me with their staffs I remeber flashes of so many things going through my head. But the one thing that came to the top was, "Please don't let them ask me to say anything. I don't won't to break down." This meant that much to me. I will uphold this banner with all of my being. When I don't want to train, I will reclaim who I am. When I don't want to fight, I will remember who I am. When any obstacle has the guts to stand in front of me, I will prove who I am. I am now, and forever will be a "Dog Brother". Man it's great to be alive!!
Continuing with what Guide Dog wrote, your time is now. "When you look back 50 years from now, don't you want to be able to say you had the guts to get in the car?" You've got one life, and the clock is ticking.
Marc (Crafty Dog), Thanks for everything.
Bryan (Guide Dog), you fight everyone as always. You truely inspire me.
Erik (Tennessee Dog), there's only one thing to say man... awwweeesssoooooooommmme!
Corey (Dog Pound), Scary as always.
Nick (Pappy Dog), Keeping it real. "I want to see a lot of stick fights. But that's just me"
The list goes on and on...
There are too many to name them all but there were some great fights.
Congrats to all. See most of you in September.

Hey Boo Dog, Great job at the gathering! You and the new generation of dog brothers are really taking it to the next level. Sorry about the mix up with our double nunchuk fight. When you knocked one of the weapons out of my hand, I started getting a little nervous and forgot about the stand up agreement. When we clinched, I was trying to take you down while you were trying to hold this Old Dog up  I'm a little rusty, but I'm going to try to work on that.
Thanks to all of the Dog Brothers for a great day!
Dog Tom.
