As Mr. Burns would say "Excellent!" :-D
-
Are there details of what all this will entail?? Still OP?
I found this one as well: http://interestalert.com/story/siteia.shtml?Story=st/sn/08300000aaa06d93.prn&Sys=siteia&Fid=INTERNET&Type=News&Filter=Internet

This is excellent coverage. Congratulations Marc and Cindy.

I found the reference while doing a random google search. Since we've been on vacation, it'll probably be next week before we have more information.
:-)

Woof Ryan:
Not OP anymore. OP gave it their best shot for a TV show and I feel they did a fine and highly professional job and we continue in friendly contact. LLF (Life Long Friends) brought me the webisode idea. Webisodes are too small a fish to fry for OP and they graciously stepped aside for LLF even though the option deal we signed had not yet expired. True class on their part.

Any idea when these are supposed to air, ?

This is an in the works thing. Much remains to be done.

Woof All:
Much to report. The Spike Webisode deal appears to be moving forward nicely. I am supposed to receive a contract today or tomorrow and will then show it to my attorney. Spike is considering sending a film crew to the Bern Gathering in Europe on Oct 1 as well as the Fall Gathering here in LA on 11/19.
It also appears that National Gegraphic will be doing a one hour documentary on us, which Original Productions may bump up to a 90 minute piece for theatrical release. Most likely is that they will shoot the June 07 Gathering.

I am not an FMA practioner, My love is Historic European martial art's, I have told many people about your pack of Dog's and think the work you guy's are doing is fantastic there is so much crap out there in Martial art's, hopefuly this will help to raise awareness of what Martial art's is realy about which is being capable of defending yourself and loved one's and the country itself from all the idiot's out roaming the street's of our great country.

Tail wags for the kind words Jeff. You may be interested to know that some of DBMA's Euro practitioners also are into WMA and that it looks like two of them will be doing Celtic shield and stick (in lieu of sword) at our First Annual Euro Dog Brothers Gathering tomorrow. (They also are exploring German Broadsword too).

Spike sent a two-man camera crew to shoot the Swiss Gathering and things proceed on course here at home.
The project with National Geographic has been soundly budgeted and there are whispers of theatrical release.
The Adventure continues!

this sounds like a really exciting project. will u have access 2 the footage that was shot for dvd use? i know that u had your own cameras, but there might be some interesting perspectives.
-
Precisely one of the points under discussion with Spike.
-
Both of these continue to move forward nicely.
-
I am anxiously awaiting there release, wish they would a little faster.
Jeff
-
Assuming all goes well with Spike, they will shoot through the Fall Gathering, do some post Gathering interviews, then edit. The webisodes should appear on their website around January.

I am just being impatient, I know all these thing's take time.
I am looking forward to this, I so enjoy watching people who train for real and not just give it lip service.

Woof All:
Just a quick Spike deal Sit Rep: Due to a last minute inability of Spike and the R1 Gym to come to terms, Spike did not shoot the DB Gathering on 11/19 as they and we intended. Spike and DBIMA are looking to make it happen in another location. If anyone has some possibilities please post here or email me via info@dogbrothers.com
Thanks

Both these projects are in motion again. :-D

Woof Guro Crafty, I noticed in a previous post there was some thought to holding the gathering at a different location. Has that changed or is Raw still the intended location?
Really hope the foot is healed and I can do this one comming in June!

Woof All:
Conversations concerning the June '07 Gathering with OP/Nat Geo have begun well, and should they come to fruition, OP will be providing a most excellent warehouse in the San Fernando Valley which they have used for various TV shows.
Today spoke with Spike concerning the Nov. 07 Gathering. Possible location under discussion: The original park in Hermosa Beach. This would be tres cool 8-)

Wuff,
Great news Guro :-D :-) :-D
Is the June location within easy driving distance (for an out of towner) of Hermosa??
Still not got my hotel booked.
-
OP has a serious offer on the table for our consideration.
-
In regards to the November gathering is the original location still a possibility?
-
Right now we are simply looking at the June Gathering.
-
Things continue to move forward well with OP.
-
Gatherings at the park again would be most excellent. Happy Quatro de Mayo.
-
Woof Tom:
Your "Happy Cuatro de Mayo" reminds me of when today, the first Saturday of May, used to be the date of our Spring Gatherings when we held them at the park across from where I lived in Hermosa Beach. Indeed it would be most excellent if we could hold a Gathering there again, but it appears that such is not to be.
Life moves forward and there are considerable benefits to being in an environment where one can exclude people who need to be excluded and this was not possible in a public park.
Assuming all goes well with OP/Nat Geo, the June Gathering will be at a warehouse in Glendale belonging to OP. I have seen it and think it will be tres cool.
The Adventure continues!

WOOF! Marc, My first gathering was the "Quatro de Mayo" 1996. I met my wife that same night for the first time at point Magoue beach. Even though we did'nt start dateing until two years later this day truely holds special meaning. My wife just reminded me that it is also the same day I bought my new car last year.I guess it is safe to say that good things happen to me on this day. I'm getting kind of old now for fighting although I must say that the pre fight buzz this year is makeing me feel that I may have a few more good fights left in me. I am having bad left leg pains (seeing my doctor monday) In either case it should'nt slow me down to much. If I am able I will probably be there ( wherever that is ). Glendale sounds good to me and I hope that works out. I Look forward to seeing you and a great day of stick fighting. P.S. Sending registration form soon. Thank's
-
Woof Marc, I went to see my doctor and he gave me pills to ease the pain in my leg if needed. It is actualy feeling better today on it's own so thats a good sign. Unfortunitly he seemed to be more concerned about my lungs than my leg. Kind of sounds like one of your stories from stick and footwork video. He has me on Inhalers and did x-rays.(waiting for results) I think stamina is going to be a factor for me this time around. The good thing is that 90 second rounds means this old fart can still come out and play.
-
Waiting for test results can fcuk with one's mind :-( :-o :? :x :-P   :| :-D
I trust all with be well.
Did we say 90 second rounds? For you, no problem. :-D
-
It sounds like there will be many fighters this time around. You may need to go to 90 second rounds due to time restraints. lol BTW thank you for offering to cater to my weaknesses so I can play. (much appreciated) Im not sure where I came up with the term "90 second rounds" althogh that was 8 years ago or more. Even so, the term was used loosly and was not a rule. I think it applied to the slower moving fights just to keep things moving along. If a fight is brewing and the crowd is getting into it it will reach it's natural conclusion even if it takes 10 minutes (Topdog vs Earve White) and others. Thats one of the many things that make these gatherings so special. This one may turn out to be the most special of all. I have not trained in years so it should be interesting if not laughable. I have just begun training my 5 yr old daughter so that has been my vehicle for my recent limited activity for the last couple of months. I'm thinking it's like rideing a bike. We will see !

I just spoke with my doctor and he gave me a clean bill of health. Looking forward to the gathering !

In some cultures men prove their manhood by enduring pain. Get a pass into
an American Fight Club, where some successful, educated males engage in
physical combat to test their manhood, using anything to attack - blunt
knives, sticks, chairs, even soda cans. On the remote Indonesian island of
Sumba, hundreds of men take part in a time-honored event known as the
Pasola. Facing off in two teams on horseback, they charge toward each other
hurling spears.

Fights are only 90 secs?
-
No, this kitty BS  has been rejected  Fights are 2 minutes minimum. They run longer when the ringmaster (usually me) thinks its a good fight.
-
Hey Crafty, Sorry for causing any confusion about the length of the fights. :? I am looking forward to watching the gathering this November as a spectator. Sometimes this is the best way to focus on the progression of the fighters without the distraction of competing. BTW, any word on a location yet? See you soon! Dog Tom S.
-
I respect the length of the two minute fight, and sometimes, I'd like a little more time at the Gathering.
Though, I'll step up to defend shorter rounds. I don't think that 60-90 second rounds are for wimps, although they do remove the advantage given to a fighter with more endurance. It's just a different fight. With a shorter 30-90 second round, the entire fight is intense because it is withend in the capacity of the unconditioned fighter. There is less circling /waffling at the beginning and end to save energy, and fewer fights with both fighters hugging each other on the ground for 30-60 second waiting for the bell. At my own garage club, I shortened the rounds from 120 seconds to 90 seconds to 60 seconds over the years and noticed that the action improved, even for conditioned fighters. A useful comparison can be made between running a 100-220 yard dash and a quarter mile. Since they tax energy systems differently, they are run differently.
-
This old dog always like a three minute fight and the challlenge of accomplishing all four of the following categories in one fight:
1) hit him well in outer range
2) close scientifically and
3) take him down to
4) finish him on the ground too.
These whippersnappers today , , , , :-D
-
You do cover all ranges very well Crafty ! I think what is even more impressive is that you make it look so easy. :? DT

Granada Takes on Four Titles from Original Productions
LONDON, September 25: Granada International has acquired worldwide distribution rights to four new factual programs from Original Productions: Twister Sisters, Backyard Nation, Our Lives: Dog Brothers and Our Lives: Disappeared.
The 6x1-hour Twister Sisters follows partners in the Twister Sisters Tornado Tour Company in Minneapolis as they head out on the road for their annual pilgrimage in search of the biggest and most destructive tornados on earth.
The 4x1-hour Backyard Nation is the ultimate backyard makeover show, which uses $100,000 in labor and materials to provide lucky homeowners with their ultimate fantasy in over-the-top backyard designs.
The one-hour special Our Lives: Dog Brothers explores the world of underground fight clubs. Twice a year, members from all over the world attend a tribal ritual they call “The Gathering of the Pack,” which is an intense day of head-to-head combat. They wear no protective padding or clothing, other than gloves and a thin fencing mask, and there are no rules, no judges, no referees and no trophies.
Another one-hour special for sale at MIPCOM is Our Lives: Disappeared. This factual crime show reveals the forgotten true stories of missing children and their families. As the families share their touching stories, the program hunts for clues and memories.
Emmanuelle Namiech, Granada’s director of acquisitions and co-productions, said: “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Original Productions. An independent company that always finds the most original aspects of our world today and captures them in the most creative and entertaining way for TV viewers.”

I spoke with Thom Beers yesterday. It seems that the documentary is finished and that I should have my copy by the end of the week 8-)
Thom guestimates that it will air sometime in the first quarter of 2008. 8-)
We are very excited.
