It?s that time of the year again! Let us use this thread to set up fights with fellow fighters that are scheduled to fight this month?s gathering, allow me to start! I am looking for fighters that equal me in number of gatherings/fights that fall into the 150 lb. weight range. I am not too picky on experience but would like to get a few good fights in for this gathering. Anyone?

I would be more than happy to stick whip you're skinny butt Ryan, just stop by KY on your way to the gathering!

You get the giant sling shot and I'll make sure they open the door to the airplane when we see you flying towards us! Or, drive to my house and I'll try and fit you in my bags. Gonna miss not having you there bro!

Hey Gruhn,
I plan on making it to a gathering before I die, which won't be long if my ex-wife has her way. So, see you soon.

I am looking for someone who is interested in going against me if I am using Mai Sok...
Any takers? I have about ten matches under my belt and have always gone single stick, I am looking for something different this time round.

Just a quick kibbitz here-- the mai sowks (spellings vary  ) are a formidable weapon. Salty Dog once asked me to fight him with him using the MS and I turned him down-- so anyone who takes up Marc's offer has bragging rights on me :P and a very good shot at this fight appearing in one of our DVDs.
PS: Make extra sure that your health insurance is paid up and that you have someone to drive you to medical care

Well there are a lot of cons about them, reach, size, etc. On the other hand they are brutal in close, and if you have seen my fight at a gathering I like to get in close.
I am sure someone will want to do it. To be honest I am pretty nervous to go against a stick when I have absolutely no protection other than the mai sok.

Hey Marc!
Curious, can you post some pictures of the kind you wish to fight with?

i'm not Marc Scott, but they are like tonfa that are strapped to arms - from my limited understanding, they can also slide off and be used to hit with. watch out for those killer elbows ;-)
here's one pic:

Good picture.
For those seeing mai sowks for the first time, note:
1) that there are two posts-- one is gripped, the other is in front of the hand;
2) the loop that runs around the forearm.
Both 1) and 2) eliminate spinning as an option, but 1) protects the hand and 2) allows for extending the MS into short and nasty clubs.

i recall many yrs ago, my first time reading/hearing about the MS is when Ajarn Salty Dog posted a text picture of the MS to Eskrima Digest. i have to check at home to see if i still have it saved - it was cool.

Is anyone (or two) interested in fighting against single and double nunchaku. If anyone showed real interest in this prospect, I may be inclined to consider comming out of retirement. hee! hee!

Woof Tom:
I don't know how many of the 34 registered fighters are reading this thread. My sense of things is that you should simply decide to come to play and that you will find people with whom to play :D I am sure the TV people will find a fight with nunchaku(s) in it to be very telegenic

I've been training a bit with a 64" section of garden hose folded in half, Anybody want to give that a go? I've got extra for hose on hose. I'd like to see about hose on knife. I've not had much luck with hose on stick but that would be fun too.

Bart,
PM me so we can chat :D

Hey All,
It?s getting down to the wire so I would like to call out anyone from the following list that is experiencing their first gathering/fight. I assume that all ?Dogs? would be out of this category so I will exclude them. The second stipulation is that you are within my weight range 155 lbs give or take a pound or few. Those of you who know that you are not within my specs it would be appreciated if you are able to contact me so I am not trying to find out who you are on Sunday. PM me when you get a chance, looking forward to any of your responses.
