Martial Arts Topics / Training Groups Near San Diego
« on: March 10, 2018, 03:34:50 PM »
So life has decided that I'll be splitting my time between Boston and San Diego.  I'll probably pop up to LA here and there to train but was wondering if there were any Dog Brothers around San Diego?  Also, any recommendations for FMA, Krabi-Krabong or MMA in general is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dog Jeff

Martial Arts Topics / Non-violent high-adrenaline activities
« on: June 21, 2012, 12:44:15 PM »
So I came across this article today where the military has created a program to help combat vets deal with PTS by providing them with non-violent high-adrenaline activities.

This got me thinking to the notion of the "higher consciousness thru harder contact" motto.  Do people here have any non-violent types of activities they practice routinely to help them become more self-aware of how they respond/react in a high adrenaline state (i.e. skydiving, bungee jumping, getting married etc.)?  If so, has it helped improve focus during sparring/gatherings?

Funny, my Kettlebell instructor said the exact same thing about my shoulders.  Took a couple of hours of private lessons to learn the details of how to do the basic two-handed swing, one-arm swing, and turkish get-ups.  Those 3 I to do after each workout to keep my shoulders and spine in proper alignment.

Turkish Get Ups for Shoulder/T-Spine
Swings for Core/Lower Back and executing those peak contraction movements Guro was referring to.

Great vids, Lonely Dog.
Can you post how you constructed the tire apparatus that was hanging from the ceiling at 00:15 of the Workout 001 video, and the tire on wall throughout the rest of the video?  I'd like to get one built for our gym.

Thanks,
Jeff
