Another important rule for me is, to use 2+3/4 inch shells only.  In my experience they are the least likely to jam, compared to the longer magnum loads and the aguillo short  shells.
Here is more very usefull info:

12 Gauge Shotshell Ammunition
For personal defense and law enforcement applications, the International Wound Ballistics Association advocates number 1 buckshot as being superior to all other buckshot sizes.

Number 1 buck is the smallest diameter shot that reliably and consistently penetrates more than 12 inches of standard ordnance gelatin when fired at typical shotgun engagement distances. A standard 2 ¾-inch 12 gauge shotshell contains 16 pellets of #1 buck. The total combined cross sectional area of the 16 pellets is 1.13 square inches. Compared to the total combined cross sectional area of the nine pellets in a standard #00 (double-aught) buck shotshell (0.77 square inches), the # 1 buck shotshell has the capacity to produce over 30 percent more potentially effective wound trauma.

In all shotshell loads, number 1 buckshot produces more potentially effective wound trauma than either #00 or #000 buck. In addition, number 1 buck is less likely to over-penetrate and exit an attacker's body.

For home defense applications a standard velocity 2 ¾-inch #1 buck shotshell (16 pellet payload) from Federal, Remington or Winchester is your best choice.  We feel the Federal Classic 2 ¾-inch #1 buck load (F127) is slightly better than the same loads offered by Remington and Winchester. The Federal shotshell uses both a plastic shot cup and granulated plastic shot buffer to minimize post-ignition pellet deformation, whereas the Remington and Winchester loads do not.

Second best choice is Winchester's 2 ¾-inch Magnum #1 buck shotshell, which is loaded with 20 pieces of copper-plated, buffered, hardened lead #1 buckshot. For those of you who are concerned about a tight shot pattern, this shotshell will probably give you the best patterning results in number 1 buck. This load may not be a good choice for those who are recoil sensitive.

Third choice is any standard or reduced recoil 2 ¾-inch #00 lead buckshot load from Winchester, Remington or Federal.

If you choose a reduced recoil load or any load containing hardened Magnum #00 buckshot you increase the risk of over-penetration because these innovations assist in maintaining pellet shape integrity. Round pellets have better sectional density for deeper penetration than deformed pellets.

Fourth choice is any 2 ¾-inch Magnum shotshell that is loaded with hardened, plated and buffered #4 buckshot. The Magnum cartridge has the lowest velocity, and the lower velocity will help to minimize pellet deformation on impact. The hardened buckshot and buffering granules also help to minimize pellet deformation too. These three innovations help to maximize pellet penetration. Number 4 hardened buckshot is a marginal performer. Some of the hardened buckshot will penetrate at least 12 inches deep and some will not.

I like the 12 gauge. Especially for home protection.  It has been my first choice for some 20 + years now. Along with all the reasons mentioned above,  I too like the fact that,  one can control the penetration capabilities with a shotgun by using slugs and buckshot or using smaller shot.  Point being, a buckshot load is much safer than slugs or higher power rifle or hand gun loads.
Unless you are at point blank range, buckshot loads are much less likely to have enough power to pass through walls and continue to travel at a high velocity.  Not like a high power rifle,  that has the capability of passing through multiple walls at a high velocity.

I'm sure, my neighbor and my neighbors neighbor, would appreciate those differences!  :-D

The "Combat Ki" school was one of the clubs featured on the tv show "10 BEST" or something like that.  If you recall, the Dog Brothers were on that show. Not sure about punch to throat demo. I do know the kick to the groin is a parlor trick. If one tightens their buttox muscles before the kick makes contact, it causes your hips to shift forward slightly and when the kick makes contact, the butt muscles take the brunt of the force from the kick. Using this technique, the kick makes no contact to the testicles. If it were a straight front snap kick, that guy would have been rolling on the ground in pain. I'm afraid these guys are just masters at martial art parlor tricks!

WOOF Crafty, It was just search  for "MMA" in general. A friend pointed out to me that,  facebook has a MMA page were you can talk about your favorite fighters, write on their walls  etc. I just found out about it day before yesterday. Not quite sure what all you can do on there.   I looked through the list to see if the dog brothers were listed and could not find anything.  It was quite a coincidence that, two day's later you announced your facebook page. I just mentioned MMA on facebook as an FYI.  :-D

I feel accuracy of a weapon still comes into play. Larger round capacity is the way to go.  The police in Mexico learned this years ago. It is a common practice for them to use a shorter 12 gauge shotgun round than normal 2+3/4".  The rounds are manufactured by an ammo company called "AGUILA".
You can find these rounds for sale on the internet. These rounds make it possible for an eight round capacity shotgun to hold maybe eleven or twelve rounds. These rounds deliver the same velocity with less shot. According to reports I have seen, the stopping power of these loads are is still more than sufficient. One important factor is, in many shotguns, the shorter shells are more difficult to eject and are more likely to jam during ejection in semi auto (not recamended) and pump models. Many models of shotguns need to be modified in order to remedy this problem. There are a few models that work well with the shorter shells right out of the box and require no modification. One of these models is the "Winchester 1300" 12 gauge pump. Back to the subject of pistols, I would rather have a nine shot 22cal. revolver than a five shot 38cal. revolver,  also I feel anything bigger than a 357 is just not accurate enough.  I have shot 45cal. and if you do not have the time to compensate for it's inaccuracy and drop, it is not very reliable. I think one is also better off in some way's, choosing a revolver over a semi auto, just for the reliability factor alone.
I wonder if a revolver might not slow down the rate of fire, so one would be less likely to rapid fire durring adrenal state.  Interesting subject. 8-)

I hope the DVD part of the resume works OK. It worked OK in one of my DVD players but not so good in one of my other players. Quality not to good either
(tech problems with burner) although, it has info. labeled on disk that will make it quite easy to pull up one of my fights on "A Gathering Of ThePack" DVD. Also forgot to mention that I have firearm exp.

I know my chances may not be great but, at this time in my life, certain circumstances have arisen that have left me free as a bird to do anything I want, whenever I want. It is a huge turning point in my life and just the thought of doing this is making me feel more alive than I have felt in the past year or more, so thank you for that. Anyway sorry for rambling on. BTW I have been spreading the word in certain circles, about your need for interested fighters to send resumes to you.  Wishing you and yours all the best!
Sincerely,  Dog Tom

Crafty,  Due to circumstances beyond my control,  I am sorry to say that I will not be able to submit my application within the time frame you have requested.   I am sure the pool of fighters you will have to choose from will be more than sufficient to meet your needs.  That is not to say that I would not make myself available to you in the very near future if  you found you needed someone with my particular skills. (By Default)
In either case,  I will  be able to submit my resume in two weeks or so as I will be able to gain access to to my equipment in order to produce a disc to go along with my resume.  I would imagine that you may be looking for younger, stronger, more durable and possibly more charismatic individuals than myself.  With that said,  I would just add that if you did see a spot somewhere that I might fit in,  I would consider it an honor and a privilege (as always) to fight in the true spirit of the Dog Brothers tribe.  Good luck to you and all involved in this projet.  Sincerely,   Dog Tom S.

Hey,Crafty   I see, for this project you are searching for fighters outside of the DB's group . I am sure you will receive many resumes/demos,  as this is an intriguing prospect for any stick fighter looking for a special challenge. I think about the National Geo Gathering and the trials and tribulations I was going through at that time in my life and how the gathering was a place I could gain a sense of strength and courage by immersing myself in a difficult struggle      (ie the gathering) and cultivating that feeling and mindset, to apply in the upcoming life events/struggles I still had to face at that time. I feel I have gained allot through the generosity of your group and will always feel indebted to you for that. Wishing you great luck with this current project and looking forward to seeing the fruit it bares. Sounds very interesting.     Dog Tom S.      PS.  If you ever find the need for a token chux player?

Ya, I know all about that. I don't claim to be a ninja or any other far out stories. I was just a stoner kid looking for something to do that was more constructive and healthy. Martial arts was an easy choice. It seemed interesting and I met allot of cool people (same with DB's) and got in shape. Dux school just happened to be in the neighborhood thats all. Any claims I make, I make sure I can back up with proof. How other people conduct their lives is not my business nor concern, as it should be! I have to admit, It is a bit of a novelty for me that, I was connected with the school for a number of years (81-83) and many times trained under Dux himself.  I am much more proud of the fact that I had my chances to play in the dog brothers arena. Those will be the richest moments to look back on and say to myself. You were one crazy MO-FO! 8-)

Hey Tom, Good to hear from you, I understand your point completely and it is a valid one although, the affect I get from cannabis really doesn't impair my ability to make responsible decisions per say. Yes I do keep firearms and cannabis in separate areas in an attempt to abide by the law(as grey as it may be), and yes I do refrain from driving while under the influence which you will be glad to here is also against the law. Intoxication from marijuana in my opinion is not going to impair a responsible persons ability to be responsible but, I do agree it can slow ones reflexes which could impair ones driving ability. As far as firearms are concerned, I don't make the connection. A gun is a tool,  just like a hammer or an axe. What puzzles me is,  given the same scenario with lets say, perscription pain medication such as Vicadin,  I'm sure it would not raise as many eye brows as medical cannabis being in close proximity to a firearm.   It seems there is a double standard here. (for lack of a better term) Personally, I would be much more concerned with mixing alcohol and firearms.     IMHO, Alcohol has a greater potential for causing a responsible person to make irresponsible decisions while under the influence. Marijuana carries with it, a social stigma that will no doubt continue for many years to come.  :-(    DT

On the subject of drugs and guns. I wonder how L.A.P.D. would react to medical marijuana and fire arms found in same vehicle. I can not seem to get a definitive answer from law enforcement or medical marijuana providers. Normally it would be a felony to possess both guns and pot in same vehicle.  There is still a negative stigma when it comes to possession of booth said items and I find myself keeping the two separated just in case. Then theres the problem of other law enforcement agencies i.e. federal law enforcement and how they would react to same scenario.  Funny thing is, If we were discussing more common perscription medication, then it would not even be an issue. It seems that there is still allot of uncharted territory when it comes to medical marijuana laws and how they are enforced.  In the meantime, I would say, Be Carefull and use discretion because, the last thing you want is a room without a view,  complaments of the U.S. Correctional dept...   :-o      DT

I thought this was an interesting story. A little history being made?  8-)   DT                                                                                Here are some snapshots, secretly taken from the hip, that show the fights in the mountains of the Philippines. On the pictures are fight scenes and in the background are Filipino people in traditional costume.  The tournament was part of a bigger event, which prime meaning was not the win of the individual. Each of the eight fighters represented their respective tribe and the fights were part of a ceremony with the goal of bringing the fighters and the tribes closer together. Apparently there was rivalry between the tribes that cost many lifes before.

The old men decided that to end this rivalry a special ceremony should be held and this ceremony should include fights, which should be carried out as short, high intensity fights with no rules, no protective gear. To resemble blade fights, sticks were used that had a nail sticking out a few millimetres on each side so that it was a relatively safe way of edged weapon fighting (as much as the phrase "relatively safe" can be applied to any way of edged weapon fighting). The old people were supervising the fights. The pictures I saw showed that it was a bloody affair; but when I met Danny he didn't show any visible scars. Maybe they used a good Himag? I will have to ask next time. According to Danny the ceremony was successful and the atmosphere between tribes and fighters after the fights was very good. I would have liked to eye witness this event, but some things are not possible....                    http://www.pekiti-tirsia.net/200406_Noheadgear.php?lang=en&soundsParam=on&file=200406_Noheadgear

NBC has made an ambitious deal, apparently the first of its kind, to buy a two-hour — or perhaps even three-hour — block of prime-time programming from outside producers, including Thom Beers, the creator of adventure documentary series like “Deadliest Catch” and “Ice Road Truckers.”

Under the plan, NBC has agreed to broadcast at least two new hours produced by Mr. Beers back to back on a single night, with many more hours possible. The terms guarantee Mr. Beers and his partners 30 hours of programs on NBC — three separate 10-episode series.

These 30 hours would come at a fraction of the cost of standard network scripted or reality programming, a factor that made the deal attractive to NBC.

The project is not related to the current strike by Hollywood writers but the background forces are somewhat similar as networks struggle to revise their financial formulas to face a future of diminishing ratings and growing uncertainties about how the Internet will figure in viewers’ choices. The programs, which are all documentary in style, would not have staff writers.

The principals in the arrangement are prominent television names, Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, both former top network programmers, who created a production company that has what is known as a “first look” deal that gives NBC the first crack at buying their productions. Ms. Berman and Mr. Braun contracted with Mr. Beers to create the shows and then went to NBC to pitch the idea of filling an entire night — or at least two-thirds of it — with real-life action.

The idea for mounting a block of shows that would play together on a night started with conversations Ms. Berman and Mr. Braun had with NBC’s chief executive, Jeff Zucker, this year. The discussions centered on the way the broadcast networks have generally abandoned Saturday night, filling it with repeats because ratings on that night have been too low to sustain the high costs of original programs.

Ms. Berman and Mr. Braun suggested that a new form of lower-cost programming, perhaps as an entire three-hour block of shows. The producers were already fans of Mr. Beers’s shows. “It’s just about all I watch,” said Mr. Braun.

He declined to describe the specifics of the deal. But participants on both sides described its main elements, on condition that they not be identified because they had not been authorized to discuss specific terms. “It certainly has the potential to dramatically change the network economics of a given night,” Mr. Braun said.

In the past, networks have contracted with outside producers to assemble a slate of Saturday morning children’s programming— mostly cartoons— but networks have not commissioned outsiders previously to fill a block of prime-time programming.

The chief economic benefit of programs from Mr. Beers is that they are strikingly cheap to produce by network standards. Shows like “Ice Road Truckers” cost about well under $500,000 an hour, a modest figure next to a typical cost of about $3 million for an hourlong scripted network series. Conventional network reality shows are also much more expensive at $1.5 million to $2 million an hour. The producers will split ownership with NBC, giving the network control of domestic rights and the producers the international rights.

After contracting with Mr. Beers to produce the shows, Ms. Berman and Mr. Braun met with NBC executives and pitched a roster of 10 potential series. The participants in the deal said that the NBC executives most involved were the two co-chairmen of the network’s entertainment division, Ben Silverman and Marc Graboff, both of whom were described as enthusiastic supporters of the idea. Neither would comment on the deal yesterday.

The original plan was to place the shows on Saturday night, the participants said — perhaps under an overall title, like “Saturday Night on the Edge.” But NBC declined to commit to Saturday for the shows, seeking to retain discretion on when to broadcast them. So the program block may be shown on any night — and at the moment Saturday is not the choice, one participant said. The contract commits NBC to run the shows in at least a two-hour block, however.

NBC retained the right to cancel one or more of the linked shows if they perform below a certain ratings threshold; but it may not break up the block for any other reason — if it did, it would open the shows up to moving to another network, the participants said.

“Deadliest Catch,” which is shown on the Discovery Channel, and “Ice Road Truckers,” on the History Channel, have become among the most popular programs on cable television. The finale of “Ice Road Truckers” attracted close to 5 million viewers. Mr. Beers, a former producer at Turner Broadcasting and Paramount’s syndicated division, started his own company, Original Productions, in 1999, with a heavy emphasis on motorcycle shows and documentaries like “Plastic Surgery: Before and After” and “Ballroom Bootcamp.” The company’s signature hit was “Monster Garage,” in which a standard car was “monsterized” into another kind of machine.

The shows Mr. Beers and his partners are planning for NBC would not be ready to serve as fill-ins during the strike because they are unlikely to be seen until the third quarter of 2008. Mr. Beers uses real people in real situations in extreme locations like the Arctic. Shows set there have to be shot in warmer months, for example.

By the time the shows do get on the air, at least three of them will be finished shooting. Two will go on in the initial block with the third ready to replace any that might fall short in ratings, the participants said.

At the same time, NBC agreed to pay for several other ideas pitched by Mr. Beers to be turned into pilots. But these will be unlike any other pilots NBC makes, the participants in the deal said.

Instead of shooting hourlong pilot episodes, NBC plans to have Mr. Beers shoot 5- to 10-minute films on some topic that can then be tried out as reports on the network’s “Today” show or “Dateline” newsmagazine show.

Hey Justin,  I can't say I am qualified to answer your question completely but, I think it is safe to say that starting with the    (Power)  video would be your best bet.  You can train it pretty much without a partner and like Top Dog says " If you have power, you will always be a force to be reckoned with"  :-D   Good luck!      Dog Tom

Interesting note:  Discovery channel's show "The Truth About  Food"  aired an episode today where they proved that by just filling your mouth with high carbohydrate liquid solution then spitting it out (not swallowing) activates receptors in the brain through taste buds in the mouth, tricking the body into releasing stored energy and increasing stamina during extended activity. This test was compared to a group that swallowed high carb foods before and during activity and one other group that just drank water during same activity. In this test the group that spit but didn't swallow :-o messured greater stamina levels than the two other groups. Carb eaters finished in a close second place and the water drinkers fared remarkably worse results comming in dead last. I guess this gives more merit to the old addage, "Man runs better on an empty stomach"   :-D   DT
