Seems fair enough. I can totally understand not wanting to teach one of the bad guys how to attack a normal in a new way.

Good show Marc..It shows you actually care about what happens to the rest of mankind.

I saw this episode and I expected more from the Doce Pares champion. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the guy did not have skills, but I thought he was lacking something, i.e. killer instict, or aggression.

Maybe I've watched too many Dog Brother Fights, so I'll blame this on them (hehehe).

No..You are right. It was lacking. I suggest watching Fight Quest. It's a far better show and the fighting at the end is full contact unlike the Human Weapon where it was soft sparring.

Tom - What is this Animal list and another question..Is anything of his Amazing 5'3 acts of warfare that he speaks of even real..? He said he rode with a biker gang in Colorado. The biker gang he speaks of for one does not even exsit in colorado..How do I know this? My father is in a Bike Gang called the High Plains Drifters in Colorado and I asked him about this Mystical bike gang and a nortorius unbeatable street fighter who was Names Marc "Animal" Macyoung and he said he never once heard of that gang or that man and on that...The Drifters run from the Plains in Colorado all the way to eagles top in New Mexico. Here is a article he did

http://www.nononsenseselfdefense.com/knifefighting.html#knifers

A quote from him
" There are many so-called "experts" who claim to be able to teach you either knife fighting or defense against a knife. The problem is that most of them are just teaching regurgitated martial arts, usually from the Philippines. While I have lots of respect for the martial arts of other lands, the truth is that you live where you do. Odds are you are not in a "knife culture."

And Another Quote from him

" Lie #15 The FMA are the ultimate knife fighting systems
Let me lay it out on the line here. When it comes to knife fighting, they are all fucking dangerous.

There is no "sun source" of knife fighting. There is no land of ultimate knife fighting arts. There is no race who hold the monopoly on the "right way" to use a knife. As I said, I have traveled around the world and seen knife fighting systems from even more places and what I will tell you is that each of them will make you just as dead, just as quick.

What I will be the absolute first to admit is that the FMA have done wonders for organizing and explaining the ideas behind how they do what they do. And for that I take my hat off to them. And I salute and respect the skill and prowess of their eskrimadors, kali gurus and arnis masters. But I draw the line at even sitting quietly when someone tries to elevate one group of fighting skills above all others so they can swagger around saying that they study the ultimate "knife fighting" system. This above my immediate gag reflex when someone -- who has never faced a knife in the hands of someone who wishes him ill -- swaggers around and tells me that he knows everything there is to know about knife fighting because he studies under (fill in the blank).

There is no right way, one way or only way to use a knife...and the more you know about all the different ways the more likely you are to be able to come up with an effective counter if you are attacked in one of those ways. But if you have only studied one system, the odds are against you being able to come up with something that works. And I have to tell you, although Western practitioners like to claim that the FMAs do, those arts don't cover all the ways a knife can be used on you. There is literally a world full of differences out there.

I have said it before and I will say it again: *Nobody* has a monopoly on the truth about knife fighting. The whole of the subject is just too big. Everybody has a slice of the pie. And learning what they have to say about it and how they do it where they are from is the best way for you to increase you chances of survival.

Howard (and LoveCraft) were great writers with a world so rich it felt like it was possible it could have been real at one time..Long long ago..Howard didnt need elves and Knomes to make his world something interesting...There is a movie about Howard..Where he explains how Conan comes into his room at night with a axe and tells him what to write about his adventures.

Did you know that Howard and LoveCraft were pen pals?

Random question here..I notice that all of the dog brother fights are with a weapon..What about just going at it weaponless against each other and rolling empty hand? Have you guys done this before?

And this happens in the Gathering fights, often after the first few seconds.  The issue is that there are tons of venues for weaponless fighting, so why drag down the premier weapons fighting event ?

Howard's stories about the Warrior Christian, Solomon Kane, are my favorite.

"it has fallen upon me, now and again in my sojourns throughout the world, to ease various evil men of their lives"  Solomon Kane - from "The Castle of the Devil"

Then it would be good for you to know that The Movie is in the works..

Solomon Kane was a good character..Anyone read Brac Mac Morn?

Maxx...

IMHO you are doing way too many reps on your ab workouts, though I am sure that some people will disagree.

Again, done slowly and with proper form, you should not have to do more than 60-80 of any ab exercise, sometimes way less. I find that a lot of people who do massive reps on their abs burn out quickly when they are forced to maintain strict form on their movements and slow things down by 50-70%. Try it and see how it feels.

Also, any muscle you workout everyday in a predictable manner will eventually plateau and not show any improvement. So for your next ab workouts, reverse the order in which you do the exercises or change the order around or change the days on which you train abs. Mix things up and it will keep your muscles confused and make them feel like they are doing a different workout everytime.

I'll PM you some options for Ab workouts...

Miguel

Hey thanks Miguel..I could use some PM notes. I drop alot of complete crunches slow..I feel the hard burn at 60 to 80 but I push the set to 100.
I am always open advice.

I have studied with the Blade down facing in before but never got heavy into it.I am going to have to mention this and try to cover alittle more training in blade facing in.. This knife is actually one of the best knives I have held and is superior to anything I have held by Cold Steel. Not to mention buy the dvd and take a look at some of their methods.

They do have to promo videos I checked out on yourtube that explained that knife very well.

Thank you for your responce!

Syderco's P'kal- Fist Full of Fight" - I have messed around with this knife and it is a pretty awesome knife. Even from what I thought about Spyderco bad knives from the past. The knife opens well just right into a normal ice pick grip blade down and facing out and its not hard to take it into the blade facing inward but my question is ..What is the benifit for having the blade facing in? It seems alot harder to do zoneing out and slashing..It seems like the blade facing this way gives you less options then ice pick and blade facing out.

Diet is always on my menu. I eat dust, water and air..Cause when I look at food, I can get fat..I started this work out bit awhile back and I tipped the scale at 225lbs and I am 5'8, I started training and working out heavy duty and now I am at 180lbs and have muscle that replaced the fat. lol! I started working pretty hard on my abs..I started doing 4 sets of 400 then moving to Leglift crunches at 4 sets of 30 and then after each set of 100 crunches, I do a fast set of 15 to 20 sit ups and I am seeing some massive results, I was just wondering if I was over doing it doing that everyday with them or what.

Another question I have is about Circuit Training....Is it proper to start with say a Bicep excerise of one set, then move to a tricep, then move to a leg, then so on and then come back to bicep?

And thank you SB_Mig for your reply.

Ah..Ok now I get it..That last part helped me put it more together. The whole bicep pulling into you part. Thank you for your help on this but I have one more small question..Also, what about making the transition to north south..Using your arm to still go behind the neck to hold them down and then using your free arm and hand to place over their wind pipe and choke them out that way? While still in the North South position. Btw, thats a terrible position to be in if somone pulled a knife while holding you like that and decided to go ape crap on you.

So if I have the choke with my left arm..I would take my right hand and place it on the persons shoulder push down with my bicep and push him with my right hand?   Press and push at the same time?

Ok. I can get into position but how do you apply the choke? Do you lean down into the neck or crank it upinto the bicep to get the choke?

296
That the one thing that bothers me about this. They dont seem to have one credit section about where they picked this stuff up from. Ah well.

Martial Arts Topics / Mactan chieftain Lapu-lapu the Movie
« on: December 16, 2007, 03:02:55 PM »
No mention of the current production in IMDB, which means a few
things. Biggest is that a major studio hasn't picked it up yet, for
either production, financing, or distribution. There are previous
"versions" of this story out on IMDB, the latest being 2002. Seems
like they want to do a U.S. based reboot of the story, with big studio
budget financing and production.

Anyways, here's the convo.

PRODUCER. A retired seaman who asked for anonymity emailed me to
express his interest in producing a Cebuano/Visayan movie on the life
and exploits of Mactan chieftain Lapu-lapu, the country's first hero.
He wrote that producing a Cebuano/Visayan film has been his dream even
before he started working overseas. The retiree from Carcar added that
he wants Boholano actor Cesar Montano to play Lapulapu and asked for
my opinion if getting him for the role is alright. Cesar may not be a
Cebuano like Lapulapu but his looks, body built and complexion could
highly qualify him for the role of the local chieftain.

***

BUDGET. The retired seaman also wrote that he has a budget of slightly
over P5 million for his initialventure. Frankly, I don't know if this
amount is enough to produce a period flick. He also plans to tieup
with a Manila-based producer as far as getting other stars for his
initial offering is concerned. However, I advised the film
producer-to-be to tap Cebuano talents themselves if he intends to save
a lot in terms of plane tickets, billeting, security, food and other
incidental expenses. The retired seaman is targeting August as the
start of the shooting period. This writer might be involved in the
production as one of the screeners and interviewers of those
interested to appear in the movie. The retired seaman has promised to
call me as soon as the date and venue of the screening and interview -
and most probably a screen test - shall have been fixed.HOPE. I don't
want to belittle the retired seaman's dream but I could only hope that
he will succeed inhis venture. His dream of producing a
Cebuano/Visayan movie is indeed laudable but honestly, I doubt if he
could come up with a second or follow-up production. To me, the ideal
ratio is at least two movies per year, if we are to ensure the
revival, viability and sustainability of the local film industry. One
moviealone per year is not enough to entice the general public to
patronize local films. Of course, catchingup with the number of
Tagalog productions per week, not per month or per year, is next to
impossible. However, two Cebuano/Visayan movies per year is good
enough—as a start. If this number increases eventually, so much the
better.

( if any of you are wondering who the actor is they are talking about. He was in the great Raid)

299
When I saw Batman begins, I thought it was Silat/ Kali stuff with just raw Batman street fighting but then I went to the opening of I am legend and they played the 6 min trailer for the new Dark Knight movie and he is beating some serious ass. I wanted to know what kinda Silat they used and not to mention Tom Crusie used the same stuff (what I thought was Silat) in Mission impossible 3. Anyways...So I dug and found out it was called "Keysi" more or less I thought it was BS and they just renamed Silat.

300
Has anyone seen this stuff? Looks pretty cool but looks alot like Silat in some moves. Anyone know anything about it in the US? I thought I read there are no teachers out here.
