Woof,

The Grandfathers Speak Volume 2 Documentary is pretty much complete. I just finished editing what I think is the final pass. All we need now is approval from Marc.

Grandfathers Speak Volume 2 is about an hour long with solid footage, interviews, and conversations about an incredibly gifted and inspiring Eskrimador.
Marc and I chatted about how charged the visit to Sonny's home made us feel. I hope this project inspires you, the same way Sonny has inspired us.

Thank You Marc for making this project happen.

Martial Arts Topics / Top Dog's training

A few months ago we shot an interview with Top Dog and Crafty Dog for an overseas publication.

One of the questions they answered was about training techniques. I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I found it very interesting to hear Top Dog say that if you've taken a break from training and are ready to start training again, that you should start on a Full Moon.

Martial Arts Topics / Kendo

ronro,

The fight Island Dog is talking about is examined in great detail by Crafty Dog and Top Dog in the new Staff DVD.

Now, I'm not sure if the Bokken is supposed to be used as a stick, or a simulated Katana, but something I found interesting in this fight was how the Kendo fighter treated his bokken as though it were an actual Katana and attempted 'kill' shots like simple thrusts, short hacks and slicing to test his sword skills in the context of a DB Gathering.

Another video you might want to check out is Tape 6 from Series 1: Unmatched Weapons . There's a couple of good Bokken vs. Double Stick fights here as well with substantial commentary on the bokken itself.

Martial Arts Topics / KALI TUDO (tm) Article

SoonerBJJ,

I've seen Kali Tudo about 100 times and I think it's awesome! The Dog Brothers have really gone the extra mile with the Kali Tudo DVD and I think it will be a very long time before anybody even comes close to matching the sheer depth and quality of the techniques and theory presented in Kali Tudo.

In addition to the 90+ minutes of instructional material, The Dog Brothers have also included an indepth interview with Crafty and Top Dog, a real street fight from Mexico with knives and clubs that reminded me that the street is truly different than the cage, and a classic boxing match with Ceferino Garcia (ex middle weight champ who created the famed Bolo Punch that was later used by Kid Gavilan and Ali)

One of my favorite sections from the Kali Tudo DVD is 'Triggonometry'. Triggonometry is basically a footwork structure that you will learn once you see the dvd. I have been using Triggonometry in Fight Night 2005 for the PS2 Online and I'm absolutely destroying people left and right with the opportunities created by Triggonometry. :)

Now...if there was only a way you could do the Zirconia in the game...then I'd be the online champ!

Hoo Hoo Hoo (owl noises)
