hey jonobos

sorry it has taken so  long to reply
i tied a knot at the end of the blanket and just hung it ,the open blanket seems to almost grab the stick
when it wraps around during impact. i like it because it makes you swing through and i find it helps with weapon retention
for now i am just swinging into the blanket bUT i also use other things as well to change the response of the impact. tiers, logs and other rattan sticks

tires are awesome to swing a stick at,
but i have also been working with an old moving blanket suspended by a rope
i found it hard to swing through it so i find it helps with developing power and i also switch to
a tennis ball on a rope it moves all over the place i find it promotes  foot work

moving blanket $10 at u-haul
tennis ball $1 at the dollar store
rope $12 home depot
the looks from my neighbours  when i am beating the hell out of a blanket and tennis Ball.............. priceless

hey maxx
i was using a mantis karambit, i am thinking of odering the Emerson. i will say one thing as far as damage the karambit  sure dishes it out but its not a tool that has the versatility as a regular knife if it is dropped or picked up off the ground

i found that knives that incorporate the liner lock into the knive frame seem to fail more often, i did file down the lock on my kershaw and have had no problems since

i was just playing on some tires 2 min ago for the hell of it i took a small mantis karambit to the tire, i thought i might get a few larger deeper slices through the tire because of the karambit angle blade, the karambit not only cut deeper i cut thorough the tire walls however i did take the knife and hit the back of the blade and it failed this could be because it is a inferior lock,  have any of you had problems with the emerson lock

a good friend of mine has one inch surgical tubing tided to a weight lifters belt, the other end bolted into the wall, the person strapped in moves out until there is tension  and a fair amount of load on the tubing
from that position we box do mitt drills knife fight, it really helps with explosive entries weight transfer etc. only problem is when you lose your balance or get hit , you end up flying into the wall

i am just putting the finishing touches on my tire dummy, essentially a 6x6 with half tiers bolted on it and a sidekick (http://thewarrior.com/warriors/rodman.htm) in between the tires. over the years i found that some
of the best equipment i use is home made. i was wondering if any of you are willing to share any of your home made contraptions, how to use them or how to improve an existing product to help in training. i will postpics of my tire dummy as soon as i finish it
thanks

Ok this one happened a two weeks ago but I am still grateful,
As I was driving Sled Dog to the seminar on May 3rd I was pulled over for having a busted tail light right in front of the seminar location so as Phil and the rest of the guys went into the gym I got to spend some quality time with the officer. Now I am grateful for the officer not giving me a ticket and I am also grateful that he used to train with my instructor and he was very grateful when I told him I would give him a discount on the upcoming Crafty Dog seminar in July.

He first time I saw this vid it stayed with me for a few days, the pathetic attempts of the people around this incident made me sick.  the guy is like a wet blanket on her he is not paying attention to anything but the victim, put the camera down and kick him in the head as hard as you can hard  nothing fancy, I agree with you guys as far as the environmental weapons that surround the tier irons sticks rocks ect. Hit him till he stops twitching and openly invite the people around to join in

i have a few friend whom work for  toronto housing they have told me for single strikes they are a good tool however if you start swinging it they may close on you
but you can still use it collapsed ( punyo) it has a good weight behind it.
