Martial Arts Topics / KT2 Pre-Order now!
« on: January 30, 2009, 12:49:37 PM »
Woof!

Just pre-ordered KT2 off of the public store. Take a number while you can...I foresee this being like the line for the iPhone.:-D I'm sure it would help Guro keep the overhead costs down...so if you can, do your part to help the Tribe. http://dogbrothers.com/store/index.php?cPath=42

Martial Arts Topics / Way of the Warrior Book
« on: January 17, 2009, 12:44:32 AM »
Woof,

I came across this book Way of the Warrior by Chris Crudelli. It is a book that compiles hundreds of martial arts from all over the world in good detail. From commonly known to the ambiguous disciplines. It has a great layout with some really good pictures. I was very happy with the book until I read, and read, and read....NO DBMA!   Why not? Not really sure how DB could not be an entry in this compilation.

Unfortunately, Cincy doesn't. I guess I'll have to venture into the seedy world of EBAY!

I am open to other options that anyone might :-D have.

Thanks,

Tony

I apologize Guro. I didn't mean to be bothersome, just coy. :|

I know that I have a few guys from my training group and a few at my school that are already excited about KT2. This KT material, IMHO, is extremely versital and can be adapted to the street as well as the ring. I play with incorporating the KT philosophies/techniques into my stand up and have had the opportunity to "apply" some of it on the job.

Woof,

Looks like that lady took the Martial Arts and Crafts to heart by stabbing the a**hole with scissors! It's great that she was able to "flip the switch" and go into survival mode. Thanks for sharing Guro.

Ryan,

Yes, that is Maija. Very smooth movement. Taught well and obviously learned well.

Great 360 degree situational awareness Guro! They must have been expecting someone less "crafty". I tell my students that when your safety may be in jeopardy, you rarely get the opportunity to really see if your "awareness" had an influence on the outcome of your unsafe situation. Sometimes you will just be left to wonder if it made a difference. I always remind them that if they are able to wonder if it made a difference then it did!

Woof!

It's important to keep distance from other cars when stopped at red lights. Leave yourself enough room to turn the wheel and leave the area if need be. I see too many people that either stop their car too close or stop with enough room but then as they get impatient waiting for the green and they inch up little by little, decreasing their "escape route". From a stalled car, to road rage, to a car jacking; the average "condition-white" citizen doesn't even give things like these any thought. So don't be caught driving while white...condition white that is!  :-D

I recently read about the woman in CA who thought that if her co-worker didn't try to help her that she would be better off because a medical professional could help her.

I wonder if she ever gave thought to the fact that maybe if he didn't help her she would be a crispy mess right now if he left her alone and the car blew up...or she could be dead due to him leaving her there to bleed out externally or internally or get hit by a passing motor vehicle as they are rubber necking the wreck?

Unfortunate that she became a paraplegic and there is always a "would'a, could'a, should'a" decision that has to be made in a matter of seconds to make a difference at times.

"Good Faith" should cover citizens as it does LEO's.

I think that the average citizen should educate themselves on how to handle more common-scenario based trauma situations so that they can better gage low level risk up to and including a life threatening safety threat.

Guro Crafty,

I agree, more now than ever (selfishly ), that an alignment/stretching DVD would be very helpful. Of course I still want all the other stuff too! :-D

Thanks again for the advice and coaching regarding my injury this morning.

Guro,

Before the Holidays would be great! I can then add another DBMA Dvd to my list. My family might have it easy this year just one-stop-shopping at DB.com :-D

Martial Arts Topics / Re: Dog Brothers Action Flex Sticks Question?
« on: November 26, 2008, 05:12:28 PM »
Woof,

I have used the original Action Flex, the Smak Stix, and the Super-Stiff Action Flex. The original action flex was too much flex and too much padding. The Smak Stix are pretty stiff with a little padding (disclaimer: broke a guy's nose with one) I personally like the Super Stiff that is offered on the DB store. I am able to block and quickly counter without the flexing/recoil issue. Very little "flex" and enough padding for training techniques with less damage. It's also nice to buy products from family...Support the Tribe!

Woof!

I also like the idea. This would mix a bit of the dog-umentary style in with the fight footage. The training or conditioning of some of the Dogs would be an interesting addition too. I'm a big Lonely Dog fan as well and would be interested in more interviews/documentary on Guro Rittiner.

Great! Really looking forward to it Guro. By the way, How'd the Kali Tudo 2 footage come out? Can't wait for that DVD.

Guro Crafty,

I would like to see more Gathering fights on DVD. To see application of the art is exhilarating! I would love to see more interviews with you, Guro Lonely, and Top Dog as well as any documentary style (Grandfathers Series) DVDs.
