Blade work and Stick work

Hi Guys Mabuhay kayong lahat,

I've seen your video clips and watch your video from a friends tape and very much proud of your Full/Real contact methodology. Well as a Filipino Martial Artist who train in Blade as well as stick, i just wanna ask if your stick fighting methodology are easily can be do in a bladed weapon or do you also train with swords. and how do you train kids with this methodology. Anyways in Behalf of Punong Guro Henry Espera and the whole RAPIDO REALISMO KALI family here in the Philippines we are very much proud of you guys ..

One of our Norwegian students namely Sverre Larne really wanted to meet you, train with you, and fight in one of your  gathering. Hope you luck. Thanks anyway for helping the FMA rise aboved.

Greetings Isagani:

Tail wags for your kind words.

Sverre is a member of our DBMA Association and has posted on our Members' Website about his training with you.  It sounds like he is enjoying it very much and we look forward to him fighting at our "DB Gatherings of the Pack".

Concerning your questions about blade/stick and about training children, please allow me to take the latter first.

It is a question I get from time to time and the answer is that I don't really have one.  DBMA instructors so inclined certainly have my blessing to do so, but personally I do not find myself to be a good teacher for children.

Concerning the transferability of stick training to blade, it is a good question.  There ARE important differences between the two.  All other things being equal (and they so very rarely are    ) I think if you put a bolo/pinuti/etc in the hand of someone trained by us with experience in our fighting that he will be someone to be reckoned with but there may well be openings in his movement that a sword trained man with adrenal training could exploit. (Of course, there would need to be one helluva good reason to be in such a fight!)

What is your thinking on this question?

Woof,
Crafty Dog

Hi GURO Crafty,

Thanks for your answer, well i just wanna know because you really fight great your experience and most of your members are great fighters and i admire you all. Rapido Realismo Kali as a Bladed System also employs or used sticks either rattan and wooden training sword in some of our advance students full contact sparring. I thought that you also do some bladed works not just in Knife. although we don't do much of grappling, It's not because it doesn't exist in Blade works but it is a bit dangerous. but ocassionally we fought with real contact stick fighting to experience the difference and also compare our moves with other Arts and your system and group are the Most great foreign fighters that i've watch either in video tapes or in clips compare to other live real sticks competition that i've seen. Congrats man and we support you. if ever you or one of your students come here in the Philippines either to train, compete or do some seminars give us a call so we can help and support him here.

Thanks for raising the level of FMA in your country as well as in the whole world. can i ask your permission to put your sites in our links.

Maraming Salamat at Gumagalang,
