hi,
training for it and tentatively have a fight with fu dog, should i get my finances in place for september, and show up.
single stick and knife is all i got the balls to use so far. double stick is and would be a lesson in humiliation.
wish you all the best in your prep and hope to make it there.

thoroughly enjoy the kk dvd from dbma. in fact its pretty much all ive been working on lately. my kicks still suck though. i like the crashing mentality as well as the different striking method which really whips the stick into the target. highly recommended.

i was reminded by a new friend that i have studied and trained with the best this year.
my teacher gm rutano, guro lafantaisie, guro denny, guro knaus, guro gelinas, and gm gaje.
also, being able to step onto the mats at the open gathering was a great honor and the subsequent cascade of richness and self discovery as a result of facing that fear was a great blessing.
i still give the majority of my life and time away to my employment situation. as negative a situation as it may seem, i'm able to provide for my family in a way i never though possible.
i will find more time, somewhere and somehow, to train and have made contacts in the mining town i live in to do so. hopefully this opens some doors to study more dbma material ala dvds and perhaps gain a better understanding of what i need to do on at the next gathering.

hi,
is the seminar in chicago going to be...how cani put it...more business and curriculum development oriented than physical training? im looking to do a lot of training in dbma this year and was wondering about this event in chicago.
a i have a sister in law in chi town, so logistically its not that expensive and the wife would like to go... makes for a more peaceful home.
peace,

hello,
i visit the homeland every two years to see the wifes side of the family and get a much needed break from the -40C temperatures of my workplace.
just wondering if there is any information on martial arts tours or camps being run during January to March, that members here have a line on?
a one to two week training jaunt would be awesome and in the heat i'd definitely lose some inches!
peace.

thanks to everybody who fought, much respect to you all!
being a first timer and battling a severe case of vaginitis, i was all nerves, until the first real hard shot hit me then i was kinda pissed! :x
thanks to rene for the push to fight, in my case he was pushing me quite a bit and gave me some very good motivational cues for getting into the proper mindset.
i especially appreciate the friendship after the fights. i dont think i have laughed so hard in three years!!
i hope we all feel as enriched by this experience as i feel and i hope to see you in april.
anybody got some tips on healing stick hickeys...rapidly?
much respect and im trading meow for WOOF!!

Hi Guro Marc,
I've cross referenced my schedule and my days off coincide with the camp dates!
My wife is on to me and has given the old hand on hip look of consternation and disgust.
See what I can do to get there.
Respect,

I am grateful that I can wake up in my own house.
I am grateful that my daughter can fall asleep in my arms.
I am grateful that my wife is still with me.
I am grateful that I can put on my shoes.
I am grateful that I have a choice.

Hi,
Many things have happened since starting this thread and I think this year is feeling like one of focusing more on training than anything.
The problems are many, but i know the rewards are great, if I follow through.
Just wondering about how I will be able to afford the travel required to seek out instruction from elite level instructors and sparring with people beyond my skill level....which shouldn't be to hard.
Thanks for the replies to my inquiries.
I hope to see some of you in Toronto.
Regards,
Gord

hi,
The tribal energy is something that appeals to me.
I have been to "martial arts" seminars in the past that not only included the physical, but went into emotional/somatic energies. The energy from the work done at these seminars was amazing, and is a big part of why I continue to train in martial arts for as long as I have.
Sadly, due to my own personal growth and my life choices, I have moved away from that systems head instructor, though I still call him friend, and have my instructor from that system as my friend as well. This was just a choice to continue searching for realism as opposed to tradition in the martial arts.
I miss that initial awakening into a new mind set. I have since walked a spiritual path with a lot of teachers, but find myself very disconnected and confused in that area of my life, currently.
I think its about disillusionment or high expectations, but I can't seem to connect in that way with people, anymore.
In any event, I was just wondering if your group is focused on that type of work. ie personal development/discovery/healing
I remember you were being hosted by Guro Jorgensen in Vancouver a couple of years ago, and I was curious to check it out, but fearful that I was just going to get smashed up for two days!!
im just wondering how active dbma is in Canada.
I know of Guro jorgensen in Vancouver, and Guro Gelinas in Montreal.
Any training groups in other areas?
Of interest, is Calgary, Alberta.
Regards,
Gord
