Many of us have been around the FMAs for a while and as a part thereof have spent many, many hours, days, years doing double stick drills wherein with endless variations the underlying essence remains that the practitioners match each other: right meets right, left meets left, etc etc.
What often happens is when people with such training get into a siniwali fight is that they have no idea how to use the skills they have developed. Understandably, many of them conclude that either the drills are BS or that he, the practitioner, sucks.
IMHO often this is because they have not done the work to have left meet right and right meet left and for either side to merge and/or follow.
The drills here are designed to prepare the practitioner to meet or merge with either hand against either hand– just like we have to do in a real fight.
Of course this applies empty hand too.
