Stick Materials Question

Rattan appears to be the material of choice for training sticks for the obvious reasons (fraying instead of chipping, priced right).

Has anyone had experience using Ironwood?

It would seem less likely to chip than some of the other hardwoods.

Any ideas or experience with it?

Woof Michael!

The following of course is my opinion alone of course.  I would prefer training with rattan over ironwood for the simple matter that I would much rather get hit by rattan than with ironwood.  As the particular training regimen I and those I have trained with includes actual contact, we tend to appreciate the "give" that a flexible wood like rattan has when receiving a strike in training.

Now it is likely that there are other fighters here with a tougher skin than I and a bit braver, their opinion may be more in favor of ironwood.

How does one make sticks or where do you buy them if you buy them.  Do you get them in pairs.  thanks.
