I would offer that a big element here is reading the opponent’s structure. How are his feet set? Where is/are his stick(s)?
No Wind Sparring is a good way to step through the portal.
Thoroughly agree. I can also share, however, that for me and my main jiu-jitsu buddy who learned a bit from Beowulf, that there is a mental block we had to overcome to just run like hell into the target. Kind of like SUTEMI; like top dog said it won’t work if you don’t believe in it.
