Colin “Point Dog” Stewart

Point-Dog

Colin started training martial arts when he was 13. He was fortunate enough to become a student of Sensei Brian Wildish, learning Goshindo Tai Jitsu. The no nonsense curriculum and method of training formed the foundation of his approach to martial arts. When he was 18 he added Judo and Shotokan Karate to the martial arts he studied.

In 2001 he moved to Edinburgh where he was able to expand his training to encompass Kali/Arnis, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wing Chun and Shodokan Aikido. He met Dave ‘Yoda’ Green and Graeme Higgins who began to teach him DBMA, somehow convincing him that Real Contact Stick Fighting (RCSF) was a good idea. He also continued to train with Sensei Wildish over this time and was awarded his Black Belt and the title of Sensei in 2003.

2006 saw a lot of changes. Colin moved to Bristol, started training with Guro Benjamin ‘Lonely Dog’ Rittiner and Guro Marc ‘Crafty Dog’ Denny, fought in the first open European Gathering of the Pack, became a DBMA group leader and started to train at the Sweatbox MMA gym.  During his time at the Sweatbox he trained in Boxing under ABA Coach John Conway, MMA under Martyn Hurd & Martin Scott and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Pedro Bessa (who awarded him his Blue Belt in 2010).

Colin moved to Aberdeen in 2010 and was made a full Dog Brother at the 2010 European Gathering of the Pack.  He continued to teach and train in DBMA and Judo (he is a JudoScotland Level 1 Coach) over this time and had the honour of becoming only the fifth person to be awarded the title of Guro (Full Instructor) in DBMA by Guro Marc Denny in 2012.

He currently runs a martial arts and personal training business and is also the centre director for the UK centre of the not-for profit organisation Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International, which can be found atKidpowerUK.org.
