I love this! the metronome for silat entries and trapping on both sides is fun and creates openings!
The advantages of metronome training are many:
1) Unequal skill levels can work together with both being able to enjoy and benefit from the training;
2) As the gun people say “slow is smooth and smooth becomes fast”. By moving at a slow and steady pace (this matter of one constant speed is essential) we clean up our coordination and understanding AND our training partner does not get flinchy the way he might if we are herky jerky in our movement. We can move at the speed where we both OBSERVE AND ACT at the same time;
3) With the flow of metronome training established, we now have a laboratory method which enables us to scientifically assess whether an idea works if/when we are both at the same speed and the same intensity. This is invaluable.
