  1. Love this! His philosophies are very much in line with what I teach at the police academy where I currently instruct in Illinois. The core strategy of getting behind the subject is so critical, especially when there are size disparities. We spend many hours on the various routes to the rear clinch.

But the transition from failed arm drag to 2 on 1 is a new concept for me (which is weird considering I use 2-on-1 to arm drag sequence often)! Looking forward to playing with that soon!

  2. Regarding “bending someone over”:

The potential here for humor is quite obvious haha but more seriously when we are in a DLO situation and we are behind someone in whole (full back position) or part (half back position) “yanking the chain” should be among the first things to consider!!!

In training the potential for inhibition is also quite obvious– dick grabbing can make one or both people ill-at-ease! For training reaching through much further and grabbing the belt is one option, as is having the “bendee” cup his hand over his dick so as to maintain privacy/dignity. Pinch grip grabbing the inner thigh is also an option.

If we fail to get past this inhibition in training my concern is that the idea will not occur to us in real DLO situations. In that this is an relatively easy to achieve and high % tactic in terms of effectiveness we really want to recognize/create such opportunities!

However achieved. planting someone face first is quite valuable in committing them to bracing against the impact with both hands. When faced with a “disappeared hands” scenario this is vital in allowing us to determine whether the disappeared hand(s) have weapon(s) or not.

As all of us here know, our bottom hand on top palm down 2-on-1 is a major position in our anti-knife material. Antone was very persuasive in the Camp in the merits of his vigorous bizet (back sweep) but a question that remains for me (and I have emailed him about this and look forward to hearing his thoughts) is the matter of doing the bizet when the hand is hold a knife. My concern is that this gets the knife very near the inguinal crease during the sweep and/or the fall. Even a light slash on the inguinal crease can be life threatening– and exceedingly difficult to staunch. Slashes to the genitalia are of similar concern!

  3. Excellent series of techniques, simple and everything connects together. I like how the arm drag and russian tie chain together so well and are low risk/high reward to gain a positional advantage.
